In Lamar county, we can have a painting service, or pest control with toxic chemicals and trucks coming and going all day, and have 5 employees as a home occupation. We can have remodeling or home repair.
We are not allowed to have one other non-family person help with books, do arts and crafts, write news articles, compose a novel, work on a computer, sell on eBay, answer a phone, restore chairs, or anything else. This is true even if they make no pollution, cause no noise, and do not come and go all day in work vehicles.
It's a poorly-planned illogical system, when you think about it. We can have bug sprayers with toxic chemicals and trucks dropping nails on the roads, but we are not allowed to have someone do data entry or arts and crafts, or even hire someone to sell on eBay or answer a phone.
Who thought this stuff up?
