Pennington to speak on TSPLOST

On July 9, Georgia residents will begin early voting for the primary to be held on July 31.

Among issues to be decided is the Transportation Special Local Option Sales Tax, better known as T-SPLOST. If approved, the measure will provide for an additional 1% sales tax to fund transportation initiatives within the region.

Personally, if this passes, I will drive to the next nearest county that does not have the tax to do my shopping. I am tired of getting taxed at every turn for everything and not get much in return.

I still am afraid if this doesn't pass, the gov't will find a way to take this out of our hides somehow.... Terrible to be so distrustful. It's not normally part of my nature.

In the recent H-G, in the legal section, the T-splost projects were listed. Lamar County was not listed as having any projects. Only as being in the district. Sure the state is supposed to distribute funds to the counties but will they do it properly. Then the money will go to the commissioners who haven't proven to be exactly frugal with our monies. Reference the Fire and Ambulance tax that they tried calling a fee.
Already the misleading and prejudicial heading on the ballot is taking fire. If the bill is so good for Ga. let it stand on its own, without the Obama like Chicago style shenanigans.
Lamar County is about to be royally raped for ten years if this passes. If we give any politicians another penny they will not be satisfied. We need to send a message that we are tired of being robbed a penny at a time without proper restraints.
