The horrific shootings by a lone crazed gunman have predictably brought the gun ban politicians out of the woodwork. Salt, trans-fat, soda drink size activist and New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg demanded, “It’s time the two people who want to be president of the United States stand up and tell us what they are going to do about it… (gun laws)” Sen. Frank Lautenberg D-N.J., always an expert on the U.S. Constitution opined, “these types of tragedies will continue to occur unless we do something about our nation’s lax gun laws.”

If there were 15 armed law abiding citizens in that theater guess how many people he would have shot? ONE.
Fed Up, I agree that if there had been one person in that theater that was carrying, the gunman would not have been able to do what he did. It is not guns that are the problem. How many years have we been giving our rights away? And acts such as 9-11, Major Hisan at Ft. Hood, Mr. Holmes (I think I got his name right) and more... back to the Manson "family", probably further... and we just keep on backing up and giving them their "rights". There are those in this country who don't care about those of us who just want to live a quiet life, but who will also protect our property!
We cannot sit back and allow this to happen! The way to fight it, in my opinion, is in the election seasons... and by making sure our leaders know they are there only by the whim of the people they are supposed to serve, and they can be voted OUT!
I hope it never goes further than the voting booth, but we all must wake up and be aware and vocal to slow down the chain of events that have led to the kind of world we live in today...

"When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny." - Thomas Jefferson
Let's say we make a law here in the states to take away all firearms. Consider the following:
1) Criminals will not surrender theirs which means law-abiding people will be at the whim of thugs and the government (but I repeat myself).
2) To collect all of those guns they would like have to suspend due process and other constitutional rights to enforce it.
3) How do you even begin to enforce such laws in this country?
4) If the government could carry out a law to subvert the 2nd amendment, how long do you suppose it would be before they subvert others (given as they are want to do that even now).
5) Why should the millions of law abiding gun owners in this country be punished for the minority irresponsible and criminal? Far more people drink and drive (and cause far more deaths they guns). Should we take away people's cars and liquor too?
Tell you what: if you are so all fired up about there not being any guns, how about you show your sincerity and put a big sign in your front yard that states you are anti-gun and that there are no firearms in your home. And start walking through the worst parts of various towns with nothing but your cell phone.
Just this last note:
- Average time for law enforcement to respond to a 911 call: 4 minutes
- Average time for me to respond, armed, in the middle of the night to an intruder in my home: 10 seconds
- Average time for the .45 cal round to travel the distance from my pistol to the intruder standing 20 feet away: 0.002 of a second.
I like my odds better.
There are many things in life that just seem to be right. Gun bans. Meat bans. Salt bans. Population bans. Car bans. Raw milk bans. Travel bans. Property use bans. We could go on forever. There are many bans today and more are coming.
Because people want them. Liberty is too much responsibility for most. It's easier to believe the myth that bans make people safer, healthier, happier, and secure.
It's only when the frog discovers that it is in boiling water and it's too late to escape, that it realizes the futility of just kicking back and waiting for the benevolent water tender to turn the heat down.
Governments are not benevolent. They are filled with people who truly believe they have a divine right to run your life. When they take your guns, or make your guns less potent than theirs, the tyranny starts.
Remember, governments have killed far more people than any other entity on earth. Gun bans serve the government. They are so hoping for a home run where they can ban guns. Then it's downhill for Americans.

True, no gun laws would stop freaks like the Aurora shooter. But for every ridiculous comment made by the anti-gun folks, there is an equally ridiculous comment made by the all-guns-are-good folks.
I hear many macho folks talk about how they would have ended the shooting after one shot. That is pure BS. A dark theater, lots of noise, no warming. You're sitting there with your friend, or lover, or child and the first several shots ring out. How fast do you HONESTLY think you can get your weapon, find a proper shooting stance and take out the perp without hitting other innocents? Answer: you're not for some time. If you're smart, you duck and/or cover your loved one. You're now on the floor with the candy, spilled drinks and... well, you know. You reach for your weapon. If you stick your head up, it may be taken off. If you fire blindly you may hit others, and most likely will hit nothing but ceiling or wall.
Banning guns neither helps, nor hurts these tragic situations.
As for the UN treaty eventually leading to a loss of gun rights in the US? Come on. Not possible.

1. Law abiding citizens disarm when told to. Thugs do not. You're a sitting duck when any armed thug enters your personal space and threatens you. "Arms" could be anything - machetes and knives are often used as mass murder weapons. In fact, brute strength can be a murder weapon. People are beaten to death. Consider many women cannot fend off a man. Firearms are a real equalizer in the hands of women.
Law enforcement generally cannot get to you in time to protect you. You must be prepared and the Constitution permits you to be armed for self-defense against threats from thugs where you live and government thugs a/k/a Tyranny.
If the theatre did not have a gun ban, perhaps enough patrons would have been armed when Holmes walked in. Certainly, they would have fired at the perpetrator and lives might have been saved.
2. UN Treaty - international treaties trump the US Constitution and this current ATT sponsored by globalist/communists in the UN sets the stage for gun bans in the US. Here's a quote from a resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly: "Towards an Arms Trade Treaty: establishing common international standards for the import, export and transfer of conventional arms." You need to be concerned when you read that kind of verbiage. These standards permit a global body to set in motion additional frameworks to regulate arms worldwide. And this treaty has potential internal effects on US citizens.
From Larry Bell in Forbes magazine the treaty ultimately will:
Enact tougher licensing requirements, creating additional bureaucratic red tape for legal firearms ownership.
Confiscate and destroy all “unauthorized” civilian firearms (exempting those owned by our government of course).
Ban the trade, sale and private ownership of all semi-automatic weapons (any that have magazines even though they still operate in the same one trigger pull – one single “bang” manner as revolvers, a simple fact the ant-gun media never seem to grasp).
Create an international gun registry, clearly setting the stage for full-scale gun confiscation.
In short, overriding our national sovereignty, and in the process, providing license for the federal government to assert preemptive powers over state regulatory powers guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment in addition to our Second Amendment rights."
So cheerleaders for the UN can always be counted on to promote the globalist communist agenda and attempt to minimize and marginalize those who warn others.
Every unarmed citizen in Nazi Germany, Rwanda, Uganda, Soviet Union, China, Laos, Cambodia - all said what you said - don't worry! Your government will take good care of you!
