You are probably correct...It would have been much more like 100% a religion of violence.
Don't believe it? Consider this: in the last 100 years...
How many Baptists have flown planes into buildings to intentionally destroy property and kill people?
How many Jews have stormed Embassy compounds and killed members of the staff?
How many Catholics have have taken people out and publicly executed them by stoning for *terrible* crimes such as driving a car, going out in public without being escorted by a male member of their family or being violently raped?
How many Methodists or Pentecostals have strapped bombs to themselves and detonated them in a crowd of people (some of the also Methodists)?
How many Lutheran ministers are using their pulpit to advocate the killing of people as a way to earn a place in paradise?
How many nations with a strong Judea-Christian ethic have banded together and vowed to drive the Islamic nations into the sea?
I'll give you a hint: the answer is pretty much zero. There may be exceptions, but in Islam it is the rule. Islam is about violence, power and fear, plain and simple. Muslims like to point to the pretty prose of their holy book, but when it comes down to it, actions speak louder than words.
But it wasn't limited. So you see, this is where people get their ideas about certain religions- by what is enacted in front of them.
Not a pretty picture being painted by the Muslims we are seeing in the news. They'd better rethink their witness, I guess.
You are wrong as far as I am concerned. I know several that are here from the middle east. In fact , after the Sept.11th attack quite a few had no problem letting me know that the usa got what they deserved because of their support of Israel. One of them owned several Dairy Queens in the Atlanta area and would not allow for an American flag to be flown at their buildings to show support for America. If it ever comes down to a "religious war" against America because of Allah ,they will band together as they had been raised to destroy the enemies that are not moslems. I have been told that the easiest way to turn the United States into a Moslem nation is by numbers. More and more Moslems coming into the United States and reproducing. Most of the Moslems I know marry within their families.
How many of you "experts" actually know a single Muslim? (and to John Doe, you may want to know how to spell something before waxing poetic on it). The problem with this "poll" is that the real answer was not there. I would have selected either "none of the above" or "all of the above". I would have done the same for Christianity, Judaism, etc. Ever hear about something called the Holocaust? Ever hear about the Reformation? I don't judge Christians on those, do you?
Unlike you, I actually have and do know several muslims. I work with several. I have immediate family members that have lived in muslim nations. There are exceptions, but if you have not learned from history, there is no help for you.
I throw a good one at you: on different occasions, several different muslims were asked what they would do if they met an Israeli face to face. The response, without fail, was they they would kill them (usually described in terms of slitting their throats, burning them to death, chopping them into little pieces, etc).
And, really, you throw out the Holocaust (which was perpetrated by the Nazis, not Christians) and the Reformation (which had nothing to do with wanton, reckless violence).
I judge a people on their actions...seems that you have no judgement at all.
