Go back to your rastafarian cave and beat on your green, yellow, and red drums while wearing your Dashiki. Did i say that i wished there were no black ppl in the pics. Ofcourse not. You look at the first picture at the gang signs being portrayed, all the foolishness that took place a few seconds before and after that photo. Just use your imagination. This type of action is hard for me to swallow. I could go on for days and give you examples and whether or not they even made it on here it would do no good because all of this stuff has been talked about time and time again on here on multiple topics.
Im not an old racist hateful person, im not even 30yrs old yet but it still bothers me to be around, or even see this foolishness take place. Sure i had to go to school and be around it but hopefully my child will be more fortunate than i was. With that said it would bother me bad too if i were to be around a bunch of white ppl square dancing.

Dont worry. From what I understand a few students were tossed out for drinking. Apparently some parents aren't even worried about that.

while your worried about theses kids throwing up gang signs you need to be worried about your using meth and crack! b/c those signs that they are doing are harmless and you can look at them and tell they are not in any major gang that are causing problems. I know some of those kids and can tell you for my self they are not failing or causing any problems in school!

So you are a teacher and you are saying there is nothing wrong with gang signs because they are not failing in your class or any other class. I tell you what, what a teacher you must be. Classic govnt school teacher here. Do you believe that their isnt a serious gang problem here just because we arent on the news like the city of atlanta?
If you witness gang like behavior at the school, it is your duty as a teacher to report the issue and is should be handled appropriatly.

The editor needs to take the picture off with about 8 or more young black men that are flashing gang signs. There is not place in our society for gangs except in prison, then they can flash them all day and night.

There are NO gang signs in these pictures. Perhaps you should ask your child (if you even have one) how the class of '09' have been showing it with their hands. I really wish that they would require registration for these comments so we knew who the trouble makers were in our community. Get a life ... preferably YOUR OWN like the rest of us. And for your information ... gangs do not know RACE the same as drug use, child abuse, etc. does not. And we do not want your color comments on these boards. These are OUR children and they did not ask YOUR opinion so go back into your racist cave.

The sign could be one or two things depending on what part of town or block they are from. One could be a BLOOD diss. which would be the letter "B" with your hands with a downward motion or another could be a variety of signs to make a certain statement. Search gang signs on google to see other signs.

Hey "Its me" #23. Dont get quite on us now. You are going on a limb and saying that there are NO gang signs in any of the pics. How sure are you of that when i just gave you an example of what it could be. You sure are mighty confident in your thinking when you really dont know what is what. Re-check yourself. Google "bloods gang signs" and or Crips gang signs and look at different ones. You are ignorant and trying to justify and smooth everything over for the kids of "your kind" Typical obama supporter here folks.

I have not hidden anywhere. I actually live in Lamar County and have a JOB to support my children. And I seriously doubt that you know me personally since I do not associate with your type. I do not hang out on the computer trying to stir up trouble. So just what is 'my kind'??? And this has nothing to do with the president so keep it straight. This is about a fun event for our children.

I am fully aware of gang signs as well as behaviors. ANY gesture can be used as such but that is not the case in these students having fun. If you would like to insist that our youth here in Lamar County are a full force gang ... proove it or shut the hell up. People like you hiding behind anonomous postings trying to make others look bad is rather pathetic.

no doubt about it. Im sure the prom was fun. FINE. I simply said in the first post i dont that i started to click off of it because of the first picture. I was then asked "why because they are black". So you see, i didnt throw any race card out there about anything. They asked a question and i answered it. You however didnt like my answer about the situation so you try to justify this that and the other backing up the students. Yea im anonymous and so are you so why dont you shut up or post your name teacher of the year.
Some ppl have jobs around here that require a riding the fence type opinion when faced with the public. Why should i post my name and risk my career because you cant stand it. That is a typical democrat move. Just like with union voting. The dems dont want an anonymous ballot when voting. They want to see who votes what so they can play the get back game at them or treat them differently because of how they really feel. If it was mandatory to post full names then you couldnt get real responses from how ppl really feel for afraid of retaliation from some goons or threatening a career. Think about it.

I didnt say you was hidden anywhere. I said dont get quiet on us now. You still havnt proven that who ever this is in the picture that is throwing gang signs isnt doing so. I am fully aware of what it is but the older community may look right past it because of ignorance. If they dont know they cant point it out.
I never said there were full force gangs here. They may not be extrememly violent like the city of atlanta. Look where i said all that up above.
Go to the rec dept and see how many 5 pt stars and 6 pt stars there are. 4 block spray painted on the ground and on different stuff. You cant blow smoke up my butt. Do you know what this stuff means. 6pt is crips. 5 pt is bloods. 4 block .. umm that wasnt around when i went to school. Something new there. They got the little B12 click . its all over you just dont realize it. Go to the tot lot and all over that area. Im no stranger to over there. Been around all this my whole highschool life and know almost ever single person on the "other side of tracks" between the age of 23-30 that i was around and i guarantee they know me too. Ive been around but have since grown up and realized that is no life to live.

There is no gang activity in Lamar? You just admitted that you have seen the gang signs spay panted on public property. I’m sorry to inform you of this, but that’s called “tagging” and is illegal gang activity. These gangs ARE becoming a problem in our community and if we refuse to see it for what it is we won’t be able to keep it under control. In larger jurisdictions “gang like behavior” (such as flashing gang signs with ones hands) is illegal. Even though Lamar currently may not have a ordinance to prevent this type of behavior, it still shouldn’t be over looked.

28.1 you are still showing your ignorance. You have no idea who you are talking to so how can you say what i have and havnt done. Id be willing to be that i have been on 75% of streets off of mill st while on foot. This shows you how well i used to blend (well not really) but was accepted by everyone. As far as in a car. Pretty much everywhere. Ive been in houses over on Ice st for hours at a time 10 years ago when 90% of barnesville was scared to even go down railroad st and you can believe that. I dont have to explain myself to you but im just making the point that you have no idea who i am or what i have done in my past. Only by the grace of God im not in prison. I think about it everyday and how much my family used to pray for me.

This is ridiculous. Anything thing good that happens here people always try to find some kind of bad out of it. GROW UP!!! Let us enjoy the goods times. Stop being so negative and be more postive. And the thing about the gang signs is not that serious. Everybody was just having a good time and just because people were throwing up different hand signs does not mean they were representing a certain group. As a teen this is a part of our daily lives most of the time we throw up the peace sign when we just tellin somebody bye. But you probably don't know what that is since your more concerned about people being in gangs. This is exactly why half of the people living here don't like living here because of negative things that are always trying to be pointed out instead of the positive. People who do that apparently have nothing else better to do with their lives and enjoy bringing people down. And thank you #23 for explaining how our class has been using our hands to represent our class.

The parents came & got them.

okay this is coming from an 18 year old sr. look this is our last year in high school and kids will be kids. were going to drink were going to rebel. GET OVER IT. i think that class of 09 is the baddest around. imean what other class would have to be escorted out of prom for drinking? even though thats not why some of the students were kicked out i am just going by what u "think". !!! some immature girls told lies on some of the students and the teachers listened to them and my mother is not mad at me at all and is very proud of me just to let you know! maybe u should stay out of it and focus on ur own shit! and from what i recall our own valedictorian was caught drinking at prom and was not punished... and the gang signs??? hahaha get a life this is 2009 like i said kids will be kids... its a damn picture! seriously its pretty sad an 18 year old has to tell a mid aged person to grow up! this was just on my mind and decided to let it out there. thanks

First of all what a little liar you are. People don't just start a rumor about YOU drinking and the teachers believe them. If that was the case YOU would not have been suspended from school, and to be proud of that shows how unintelligent you are. As for the immature girl (YOU) telling a lie about our valediction? Its not hard to find the gang signs in the picture if you know what you are looking for. Hell the signs are even thrown on T.V. now and it's become part of pop culture to some. Anyone think Chris Brown is a gang member? Take a look at his latest Vibe magazine photo shoot. His hand on his pocket sure looks like one, not too mention the 5 pointed star on his neck and the trident as well......there are plenty of signs there....you just choose not to see them or recognize them and be uneducated to what your child is doing or what is going on in your community.

Dearest Angie...whoever you are.
I can assure you and all readers on this site that the class of 2009 is about much more than drinking at prom and getting escorted out of said prom in shame. I find it extremely disturbing that you would uphold such behavior as being "cool" or in any way acceptable. This class is composed of truly talented and special individuals who will be missed upon their graduation.

I also find it disturbing that many adults obviously have nothing better to do than to perpetuate ignorance and rumors about a group of students who--despite some lapses in judgment--were trying to have an innocently fun time.
