With a narrow, six-point lead and facing fourth and nine at the opposition's 34-yard line, Lamar head coach Franklin Stephens dialed up at shot to the endzone and connected. Lance Austin hit twin brother Lawrence Austin behind a completely fooled Lovett secondary and Lamar went on to hold on for a 35-28 win in the quarterfinal round of the Class AA state football playoffs Friday night in Atlanta.
NEXT WEEK: Lamar will face Calhoun, which routed Brooks County 49-7, Friday next week. A coin toss will be conducted to determine the home team. Lamar has never been to the semifinals. "You made history tonight," Stephens told his team on the field at Lovett after the hard fought win.
Realtime scoring from the game was provided from the sidelines by Walter Geiger.

Incredible feeling to wake up this morning and still be so excited about our win last night! We have some of the hardest working coaches and players around! Our fans are the best! And our band and cheerleaders are awesome! I love that I am part of the Trojan Nation!!
