In what seemed like a scene from the Will Ferrell movie 'Old School' gone awry where promised is "All the fun of college, none of the education," Barnesville resident and Gordon College freshman David E. Williams was arrested (in addition to dozens of others) for various charges including underage possession and contribution.

There goes the rent money..........
If my memory serves me correctly, parties have been ongoing for close to twenty years so I wonder why it has been raided before?
Answer: One bite at a time.
Eventually law enforcement will put a dent in the criminal activity but they can't do it alone. It is going to take the DA and the judges too.
I'm all for giving a first offender a break for a minor offense. Usually being subjected to arrest and a visit to jail is all that is needed for them to reconsider their next little adventure with breaking the law. But twice is to many times and that is when they need to answer for the crimes.
i drank in barnesvills and got locked up
Cops patrolin', and now they done stop me,
And i get locked up,
They won't let me out, they won't let me out, (my N im locked up)
They won't let me out no, they wont let me out, (i got locked up)
They won't let me out, they won't let me out, (baby girl im locked up)
They won't let me out no, they won't let me out
WAHHHHHHHHH
You idiots CANNOT be serious trying to justify under legal age drinking because you are in college as something that should be permitted. Seriously??? Perhaps your grants and scholarships should be revoked as well as reimbersed due to you immature behaviors ... damn, what a concept and great idea for the issuers to consider.
I'm not defending Dave
but i will say that was a joke
and the police should be investigated for the way they treated people
they threw them around and had faulty equipment
And if this town had stuff for college kids to do open after 8:00 maybe they wouldn't be partying so much
And it may be a small town but ITS A COLLEGE TOWN!!!
And if you live here you should deal with that
Again, quit pouting everyone that was there and GROW UP!
Burn Davey, Burn....
And you got arrested and will go to court, so who's the "idiot" now?
You know, there's a way for you young people to take your place in the world and it's not by calling people names and typing misspelled words with caps lock on.
Your immaturity is showing.
And just so you know, there is something seriously creepy about a 37 year old man partying with under-21 years olds. Seriously creepy.
and for the record the govt allows slodiers to drink on base why the hell cant i have a beer in barnesville.
All of you people defending the pigs that did this should be ashamed of yourself. The local pigs that did this think they are all big and bad with their great big guns. How DARE anyone defend their actions! You people need to get out from in front of your TV set because you are really BADLY dumbed down by your TV’s that you worship so well.
All of you who defend the pigs, and the way they acted, should be ashamed! There is no justification for a firearm being held to anyone’s HEAD or BACK if everyone that is being arrested is unarmed and peacefully cooperating! That’s some serious crap going on, and for you people to defend these pigs, GEESH how can you dare justify your attitudes!
And any person with a badge that does this, should NEVER be called a “Peace Officer”, he or she could be called PIG and fired. Officers like this should be behind bars too if the county had a decent and smart enough DA to press the applicable charges.
As for the young crowd, yeah you all should be ashamed as well. Go back to school and focus on your studies, you haven’t got a clue as to what real life is about yet. Quit partying, you’re childhood is over, get ready for adulthood…..you’re in for a VERY bumpy ride!
As for that Williams guy, hope he serves a lengthy sentence, he broke the law, and he should serve serious time for every underage drinker that was at his home.
and would like to add
These are not real cops! They are Barnesville cops who arent used to any real crime
if these were say NY or even ATL cops they would have reacted better they would have realized the situation was not a severe as they made it out to be
Also, did the cops mention that they saw a fight go on and just sat and watched(and later MADE JOKES about it) If they were really looking out for the well being of us they would have broke up the fight or raided then. you say they didnt know if there were any weapons. Well what if those two people fighting had weapons and the police let them fight and someone got shot or stabbed? what would they have done then? EXACTLY!!! YA'LL SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!! YOU JUST WANTED A BIG STORY!! IF YOU WANTED DAVE YOU HAD MORE THEN THIS OPPORTUNITY AND YOU DIDNT HAVE TO WAIT SO LATE! FACEBOOK SAID THE PARTY STARTED AT 9! WHY DID YOU WAIT TILL 11 TO RAID!OR LET THE PARTY HAPPEN AT ALL!!! IF YOU WANTED TO STOP UNDERAGE DRINKING WHY DID YOU SIT FOR HOURS AND LET IT HAPPEN!! YOU ARE POOR EXCUSES FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT!!!
What really would have been sad is someone leaving that party drunk, high on drugs and getting behing the wheel of a car. If that had happened and someone got killed, then the police would have been blammed for not doing anything, so they are going to catch some slack either way. Im sure they dont give a shit. They got the 37 yr old creep off the street, for a while anyway.
I can call them pigs all I wish, because that's exactly what they are and I'm not a child who makes childish statements.
They do not deserve their badges, the Williams guy deserves serious time behind bars and the underage drinkers, yes they broke the law and they should face the consequences of their actions but that is STILL not justification enough to have guns put at ones face or back. For you to think this is ok makes you a very sick individual.
Now let me hear an AMEN, I am a 100% God loving Jesus Christ serving Christian and GOD knows I am right!
BTW, many who are knowledgeable of civil rights laws know this too, and since you seem not to be very knowledgeable, your ignorance means nothing.
I hope those kids calll the ACLU as fast as their fingers can dial.
To whom ever is in the military that was at the party...you may serve your country but that doesnt change the law. Sorry. Complain to your congressmen. Also, I bet than 90% of the cops you are whining about served their country as well. So just because you are in the service does not give you a free pass to do whatever you please. Have you been to Iraq? They dont allow alcohol over there. You would be out of luck.
they wouldn't want to put a dent in our local fire dept. or churches, so they just overlook the crime being done and go to a nobody like dave's house. if the police are honestly doing their jobs, then don't play any favorites and serve everyone in community as equals.
i am a father of four, and after my sons came back from the "deer camp", i was the first to contact (name omitted due to barnesville.com policy), and he claimed, "they're young, kids will be kids, i'm just giving them a safe place to be kids at"
what kind of public official lets this behavior go on?
Pig, if you know what that is, reeks, waddles and lives in mud and slime and crap....usually set apart from other livestock because of the stench and rot. That's a pig. An officer may have a badge, but that doesn't mean he isn't a pig when fellow officers who DO care frown on his or her horrible actions.
And believe me, this is frowned upon.
He or she may still have a badge, but he or she is still an outcast and not accepted as an honest officer even by fellow officers.
Do you need a bit more education here?
Or do you wish to keep your head in the sand?
BTW my kids have a spotless record just as I do, I'm not one of those like you who let's them rot their minds with a TV as a babysitter. They respect adults, they are honor students and they are a wee bit more intelligent than even you appear to be. They would walk circles around you ignorant people in a debate, Godly debates or otherwise.
And if you know anything about the Bible, maybe you should dig into it a bit more yourself before you call someone else a hypocrite.
And my kids were not at that party you silly goose lol. I don't know anyone who was there at all.
You sound like all those other self-righteous hypocrites who deem someone is going to hell just because they question someone’s action.
You're opinion means nothing to me, you're ignorance is WAAAAY beneath me. I just hope some of the kids read these comments, and realize there are adults out there that DO care. Because we are here, and we are MANY.
Obviously we are not of you type of Church tho, but we are a majority. I don’t know what type of Church you attend, but I can guess it’s one of maybe 3 I know of your kind in the area. But you don’t speak for the rest of us.
cry.
So... shhhh.
Get 'em back guys, exact your revenge. I knew you could do it little chubby cheeks. That's a cute mustache you got too. Sexy. I'm glad I turned you down back then, because I'd never date a power hungry police officer. Even if your acne has cleared up. ;)
29/F
You are a dumb ass for thinking you have a friend in Big Daddy D. He will betray you, and if you were his wife you would say he has beaten you. Check his rap sheet...it is a mile long.
He needs to be locked up forever...he is an evil person.
It's the DA's job to prosecute, and the Judge and jury to sentence.
It’s a long line one follows for true justice, and the cops duty is VERY far down on the list.
There's a reason lawyers and judges have to go through many years of education, they are the ones in control, but even then, they can’t get too much out of control with a well informed jury.
Police officers, well look at their training, some of them are nothing more than a bunch of hillbillies with a gun, stick and badge who think that they RULE.
Not many of them even realize, they can go to jail too for overstepping their duties as officers.
Those who become officers because they care, my heart goes out to them. Those who think they ARE the law just because they have a badge and a gun, they are disgusting and deserve respect by NO ONE.
Barnesville is not a military base and will never be. It is a small town where people want to raise their children with good morals and to become law abiding citizens ...
A community without proper recreational activities becomes a community full of crime. This keeps people from moving there, which in turn hurts commerce, which in turn hurts the whole community.
Think about that the next time you see trash on the side of the road or ride over a pothole. Then go visit a good community and see how nice and clean the community is.
A community is judged by the care it takes with its streets and children.
And believe me, Barnesville GA is seriously one of the worst communities to live in, in Georgia.
All you have to do is walk down Main Street. You try to beautify the street, but it looks pretty pathetic. The town is old and being overrun by ignorance, and will never achieve any sort of greatness other than being able to claim "Buggy Capital Of The World".
Well eventually the new slogan can become "Brainwashed Buffoons Capital Of The World". Actually, that sounds pretty much like Barnesville already.
I would love to be a witness in court.
I am a resident of Lamar County, it will not be hard to find me.
I would love to speak on these partygoers behalf, I wasn't arrested and I don't have any jailtime or fines to pay. I don't care if anyone knows my name.
I saw injustice. This was not the way to handle this situation.
Sure Lamar County is strapped for cash. You could have just ticketed these kids and sent them on their way.
I guess this goes to say when economic times are tough, the law gets tougher. If law enforcement knew of this and was more interested in the safety of the population they are paid to PROTECT, they would have ended the party before it started. It's not about safety, folks, it's absolutely not. I am not naive to these sort of things. If I was in charge, I'd do the same thing. More cash flow, not more protection. It's completely obvious.
The ACLU sure does a lot more to help the oppressed than many Churches do. As a matter of fact, sometimes it's the Church doing the oppressing, and that is a tad bit sad.
People should thank God for organizations like the ACLU; at least SOMEONE is doing something to keep the scales of Justice balanced. It sure isn’t the Citizens who are only proud Americans on the 4th of July, yet throughout the rest of the year they are in fact borderline communists. Oppressing others and crapping on the freedom that so much blood has bought us, that is what a large part of the population does.
God what is wrong with you Lamar County police? Why bust up one of these parties, setting and example stating your not going to allow this to happen in your county. Like I said, just leave them alone and when that 16 year old girl is found dead on the side of the road after ODing on a X pill that was slipped to her during one of these parties THEN you can get involved.
everyone except for David got a MINOR IN POSSESSION... if you agree that 30 police officers should have busted the door in with guns in peoples faces, slamming people to the ground while screaming racial slurs... then you need to be put in a padded room and rot...
if you seriously think these kids are criminals for doing what most parents expect from a college student (getting good grades and of coarse the occasional social activity involving a drink or two) then you should be dragged out of your home and shot in head in front of your children.....
your gonna tell me that i can die for you f**king people but from 18 to 21 alcohol should never touch my lips? and if it does I should be slammed to the ground and treated like sh*t by the people that I employ with my tax dollars? you people make my sick to my stomach.....
im not crying about getting caught... im pissed at the way it was handled... and if you can't understand that then we need to get you to a psychologist and work things out in your head
you need to open your eyes and realize everything isn't what it seems... if you want fact... turn your computer off right now and come down to gordon and talk to the people that were there that didn't get arrested... get an unbiased opinion on what happend.... because you OBVIOUSLY don't know the facts..
The fact that the community does not care for it's youth, is enough to say the youth should not care about the community.
There is NO reason for that kind of police abuse, NONE. And those who defend such abuse are as sick as the cops who perpetrated that abuse!
I'm sure racial slurs were being thrown around especially in front of the black officers that were there. Hum...doesn't make sense does it.
Oh, Mr military genius, does it not make any sense to you that all of y'all got minor violations that lead to what???? Let me see if you can figure it out. I didn't take me long.
I am also aware that all kids drink at times but not all kids should be doing X, acid, pot, and meth. Don't try to pretend that alcohol was the only thing at that party.
I wasnt even at the party
and i dont hate police
Just the way they acted
Is your definition of pure and holy to mean shut up and do not speak out against wrongs?
There is nothing in the Bible that goes against anything I have said, nor that goes against me calling bad officers pigs. There are common names for good and bad in many things.
Pig is a common name used by many, and not only civilians. It represents cops who do not deserve their badges, plain and simple.
It's not like I called them butt licking maggots with pimple infested pus filled skin that drips with pure slime as snot drips out of their noses.
I have said nothing offensive, but I could if I were not a Christian. I could get really offensive if I wanted to, but God would certainly frown on that. I will admit that much, which is why I don't say such things.
Speaking of education, you may want to improve yours just a wee bit.
People need to stop thinking that cops can do as they please. That gun and badge does NOT give an officer the right to be brutal, and REAL officers know this.
It brings shame to every officer who truly does wish to better their community.
And I do admit, there are many fine officers in Lamar County, but there are also some who do not deserve that badge at ALL. Those are the ones I call pigs, not the fine officers who care.
Has police brutality really sunken to an all time low?
If you are truly a S.W.A.T. member, then you should know this.
Drawn is 100% different than actually placing a gun on a person’s body.
Drawn is intent to show you mean business so one best cooperate. Actually forcing the gun to a person’s head or body has gone from intent to show you mean business, to intent to kill.
There is NO justification for intent to kill when a person is unarmed and PEACEFULLY cooperating, NONE.
It's one thing for officers to use the gun as a symbol of their protection and what they can do in what could be a dangerous situation, it's another thing entirely when that gun is used as a threatening weapon!
That badge does not give officers that authority, period!
Also, how about you do a little research into Georgia Law. Under Georgia law a police officer can pull his weapon AT ANY TIME. You had a handfull of officers walking into a residence with over 30 people. Yeah, I would say they had every authority to have their weapons drawn. If you don't like the idea of police officers being able to protect themselves in this manor, feel free to travel across the ocean and live with the Brits. You wont have to worry about that problem then.
How do expect to be treated when you break the law anyway, with respect! Bitch please!
Yes, if no one in the place was breaking the law and they went in there like that yes it would be wrong, but wait, oh that's right, they were breaking the law that's why they were there in the first place!
The difference between this party and the one in Milner is no one invited any Barnesville PD officers or volunteer FD members.
I can not believe no-one has noticed that all these educated Gordon students can not spell nor write a complete sentence. I guess all that drinking ( or whatever you are using ) has gone to your heads?? Congrats on the dead brain cells........You want need them no way in the real world in your decade. HA!!
I personally have a family member going to Gordon and I could not understand the point of 3 DUI's from this under age person. Well, thank-you all Gordon students for opening my eyes. I see that this school needs to crack down on education ( I do not see one educated Gordon student on this page ). On top of education Gordon needs to scan the applications a little harder in the future. Sounds like to me Gordon is placing a ton of people in the real world to turn out to be losers in society!! I would put money on 85% of the students they have today will end up society drunks. Look out future Americans!! No wonder Obama is our president. ha!! ( no pun intended ).
How many people out there are named ANONYMOUS??
Couldn't you come up with something better then that? Oh wait you can't get up off that darn X-BOX, while sitting by that cooler of beer by your side, and a line of coke or meth on the end table next to you, long enough to have a thought of your own......
I am so sorry for thinking that at least one of you young adults ( you call yourself ) could be so educated. One of you almost had me fooled....Until I noticed you had to many run on sentences and no paragraphs ( and you want to be a lawyer ) HA........WHO WOULD HIRE YOU IN THEIR RIGHT MIND....Oh, but wait......Your drunk, drug friends would......You may have a job after all if you reduce your rate to WILL WORK FOR FOOD......HA!!
I had to stop reading this drool.
Whhaayy Whhaayy Whhaaayy
GROW UP!@!!!
Ol' D was actually performing a service for the local community in his self appointed role as the Off Campus Activity Director.
After all, D is twice as old as most of the soiree participants which allowed him to
counsel the young 'uns on the proper way to party.
Although I did not attend, he probably gathered all the car keys and was to return them only when he was positive that designated drivers would depart with the ability to drive safely without being involved in any vehicle carnage on our local streets and highways. That is a grand gesture.
In celebration of his birthday, I'm sure he had a room full of fun games such as
Scrabble, Monopoly, dominos and pin the bikini on the model or Truth Or Dare. Surely he would not allow any drinking games or allow the ingesting of illegal drugs. Nah! Strictly legal happenings were planned at his digs.Surely he would not allow anyone to get toked on reefer. Ol'D most likely asked cigarette smokers to step outside so no one would fall victim to second hand smoke.
He provided a service for the downtown area by relieving traffice congestion with his uncanny ability to attract so many party goers and their vehicles. Greenhouse gas emissions were reduced. A parked vehicle does not emit noxious fumes. Al Gore would be proud.
Much needed $CASH$ was infused into the local economy by the spontaneous Big Daddy D Stimulus Plan. Fast food establishments benefited, liquor and beer sales peaked, cigarette and tobacco sales increased. Some beauty salons and barber shops were crowded with the "stoodents" seeking manis, pedis, and hair styles in anticipation of attending the grand party. Car washes made money.
No college "stoodent" would dare arrive in a dirty ride. After all, attending D's party would hold better memories than any high school prom. A birthday cake with 37 candles probably cost a small fortune unless Ingles made the cake.
In an indirect way, Big Daddy D will be responsible for repairs to be made on the leaky Court House roof with the windfall of fines to be paid by the guilty parties if the fine money received can be desiginated for that purpose.
The self appointed Off Campus Activity Director really came through. He provided
entertainment on a mid week night to allow those weary "stoodents" a chance to relieve their stress and pressure of grinding through their educational regimen. No way was it possible to party down on a Saturday night. Relief was needed immediately.
Not bad for a Freshman Off Campus Activity Director. If those mean old policemen had not
broken up the affair, it's possible that D's parties would rival the Chitlin' Hoedown by the time he was a Sophomore. THAT'S BIG!!
I'm sure I missed some items on Big Daddy D Stimulus Plan, feel free to opine.
Yes Suh!
Way to think responsibly on a financial level Lamar County, this may stimulate such a poor economy. Very fiscally brilliant tactics indeed.
And perhaps you can say you're old enough to die for this country but you're obviously not in any branch of the service. The military would have knocked that attitude right out of you.
By the way, I do have a child on active duty in the military and you disrespect my child by saying that you're old enough to die when my child is overseas on active duty.
My child is doing something constructive,at least.
Now, put up or shut up.
And don't forget to unlock the caps.
"You want need them no way in the real world"
You WON'T need them ANYway in the real world...
"I noticed you had to many run on sentences"
I noticed you had TOO many run-on sentences...
And what's the pun (not intended or otherwise) about Obama?
AND HEY ON A COLD NIGHT WOULD YOU WANNA BE IN A POOL THEN WALK TO YOUR "HOME"
AND JUST HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN FIT IN A POOL AT A TIME
THE WHOLE STUDENT BODY OF GORDON WOULD BENEFIT FROM THE TOWN GIVING A FLIP THAT THIS IS IN FACT A COLLEGE TOWN
AND REALLY WITH AS MUCH RESPECT AS I CAN GIVE RIGHT NOW I HAVE TO SAY THIS TO THE ADULTS COMMENTING THIS;
EVERYBODY MAKES MISTAKES, ITS PART OF LIFE AND IT HAPPENS, YES WHAT THE STUDENTS DID WAS WRONG BUT YOU KNOW WHAT THEY LEARNED THEIR LESSON AND ARE PAYING THE CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR ACTIONS
YOU SIT HERE AND SAY YOU ARE ALL GOD LOVING CHRISTIANS WELL IF MEMORY SERVES ME STRAIGHT
ISNT IT SAID THAT WE WILL ALL MEET OUR MAKER AND HE WILL JUDGE US IN THE END?
STOP BEING BULLIES YOU ARE NOT THE PARENTS OF THESE STUDENTS
AND BTW YOU KEEP SAYING THEY NEED TO GROW UP SO STOP CALLING THEM KIDS YOURE CONTRADICTING YOURSELF
WELL I AM GOING TO LEAVE YOU WITH THIS
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:3-5
It appears not, so why try to inform others when maybe you should improve your comprehension skills a bit more.
Let me spell it out for you, guns DRAWN to be expected, guns PLACED on or at peoples heads WRONG.
Should I write it in something more simple for you to understand?
Good Cop = Gun Drawn
Bad Cop = Gun Drawn And Placed On Or Near Head Of Unarmed Citizen Who Is PEACEFULLY Cooperating
Maybe Dr. Seuss could explain it better to people like you. You can't even seem to understand what it is you're trying to comment about.
I have witnessed officers in this area abusing their authority. Maybe not in this situation, but I have witnessed it. So maybe it’s easier for me to believe the allegations, because there are some in the area who in fact do abuse the authority granted to them.
But again, I will say, there are also many fine and respectable peace officers. And I in no way mean any offense to the honorable officers when I use “Pigs” to identify one from the other.
I would do anything I could to advocate for increased pay, better gear and many more benefits than they receive, for those honorable officers. They deserve much better then they are getting.
But those who actually believe they can do as they please without facing the consequences of their horrible actions, they deserve nothing, not even their job. They should be fired.
And people should be outraged by the abuse. The fact that people actually defend this abuse of power is somewhat pathetic. I am glad to see that you do not defend such actions. I do not know you, but you appear to be one of the honorable ones, and not a “Pig”.
And we need more LIKE you, this much I will wholeheartedly admit to.
Do I hear some hummmmmmming now?
Talking about revenge.....ha!! You have lowered your self back to middle school with that comment.
get a job.......
I don't care if you were partying. You got caught. It happens. I was at plenty of parties that got busted when I was underage. And yes But I could read and write, damnit. These kids have no "right" to any education. They have obviously wasted their free educations to this point. Why should we let Obama take our money to pay for more education they won't use. "The world needs ditch diggers, too."
Ma'am do you really have nothing better to do then judge other people all day?
These are not your children! They know what they did was wrong and they are paying the consequences. And their parents are dealing with them!
You have no authority to condemn them! And really should take a look at your life before judging others.
Obviously something is wrong if you have all this time to comment on this article.
It's springtime! Go plant a garden. Or better yet got spend time with your family
Ya know the ones who have never done anything wrong! Because only these students made mistakes! No one else ever does in this town!!!
(Point 1) You knew you were breaking the law.
(Point 2) You knew there was a possibility you could get caught.
(Point 3) You got caught.
(Point 4) Now you must answer for it.
But, (Point 5) you are all crying about something you knew could have happened, and did.
I must say from the amount of foul language and apparent lack of education from supposedly college students, some of you belong in jail. You definitely show no respect. You obviously have an inability to use sound judgment.
You all are whining about law enforcement entering with guns draw. Well just what the hell should they have done? Give all of you a phone call first and ask everyone to please stand-by with there hands up and identification in there hand? Get a clue! They had no idea what they were entering and they had to be prepared for the absolute worst case. Oh and yeah! I have no room to talk because I wasn’t there. I’m basing everything on what I’m reading here. And most of you sound like pathetic little juvenile delinquents.
Some of the parents have also made comments. It’s obvious why your children got caught there. If they act like some of you parents sound, it’s easy to know where they got the anarchy type attitude. You maybe should have spanked their little butts instead of telling them it’s alright; mommy and daddy will take care of you.
One more thing; to the person that thinks that if he/she is old enough to die for their country, then they should be old enough to drink a beer. Let me enlighten you on some facts. Even in the military, if you are not 21, you cannot consume alcohol. You will be charged with underage drinking, and one you don’t have now called, conduct unbecoming.
Let me give some advice. Grow up! Answer to these minor offenses. Use sound judgment next time and think of all this as a learning experience.
OH: Least we forget!

“lamar co. is about to be broke again , the have many of law suites coming,”
Sorry, not worried when it’s uttered from someone with your vocabulary and educational intellect. I even wonder if you can spell lawyer, much less attorney.
Big Daddy D should have stolen more electricity..........
Now that you know you are speaking to an educated person and a victim of the true crime and scum of your town that thrives on college students. Let me break apart some of the mirages the police and hypocritical adults have been pushing out there about us "bad kids".
1) We are college students. We are your waiters, cooks, waitresses, dish washers, cashiers, and we support the barnesville economy. We are also the people who will pay into your social security and disability when you become old. Without us your town would be nothing but a pizza hut and a mcdonalds. The people that prey on us privileged college students would be preying on you if we weren't around.
2) Yes we were drinking underage, but isn't that what college is about? So we should of been ticketed, but when they took us all to jail. It was nothing but a way to gain money. 27 tickets of MIP are more than 3 tickets of armed robbery huh? Good Job Barnesville PD. Everyone that had cars and everything in the house was stolen. HORRIBLE police work.
3) The cops were posted in the woods watching us, they were NOT in uniforms, without badges on, and charged into the house without screaming police, sherriffs office or anything like that. They slammed girls around, put pistols into peoples faces, and screamed all without exclaiming whom they were. Very unprofessional.
4) I am glad to know that the local police department cares more about arresting underage drinkers than armed robbers that busted into my and another apartment in my complex and robbed us at gun point. This is just one of the many times college students have been taken advantage of and nothing happened. Wait until I get a gun for you barnesville folks.
5) As for everyone that is saying we don't deserve to be in college, and uses minor gramatical errors to try and belittle us. Please try harder, because we have a future and are not a part of a town that is absolutely floored by the fact that kids want to be kids while they still can. You think it is a comforting notion that in a few years we will be locked into mortgages and married with kids for the rest of our lives? The only hope we have is that we can live as much as we can so we don't become as unhappy and cynical as you people are that are saying these horrible things against kids. And please people, you live in Barnesville you honestly think we give a flying f what you inbred insignificant people think? For god's sake, you openned a new Ingles a few months ago and you would of thought Jesus came back...presuming he even came the first time.
6) Also, while we were in jail we had police officers laughing at us, and being proud of what they had done. They charged into a college party and arrested no criminals. Just a few kids wanting to have fun. I hope they are proud of what they did. They will not stop us from partying or anything. We will continue to do as we please and I can assure you one thing. That when we are your age we won't be making $20,000 a year spying on kids threw facebook. What a life.
7) As for David. I knew him before everyone else did. He is a good friend and a good father. For all the lies and slurs people say about him. Put your name down instead of Anonymous. I will put my name. Why won't most you that slur us so bad? He DID not provide any alcohol, and he doesn't even do drugs. The live sex acts is a joke regarding my roommate because he has a lot of sex with a lot of girls. Watch out, majority of them are probably your daughters Barnesville parents. Isn't that scary?
8) If you are not a student, and was not there. Please do not reply and you shouldn't even waste your time speaking your mind to people who are involved. We do not care what you think.
9) As for the BPD, they knew there was no significant drugs there. They used those as a way to get the no knock warrant. Everyone that believes there was drugs is an obvious idiot, and no wonder they live in Barnesville. BPD is the biggest group of idiots I've ever seen. I personally know everyone that was at the party, and no one had anything more than some weed on them. There are more petty drug dealers in Barnesville than there are drunk college kids. Nice priorities huh?
I think I addressed most everything I saw fit, and if I forgot something please e-mail me. I left my name and e-mail address. I am one of the only Christians in Barnesville so most people will know who wrote this. If you can't address me logically please do not try I don't listen to people that are blinded by their own insignificance.
I am also contacting the ACLU about this issue because I am overlooking just civil suite lawyers. This is much more than just a lawsuit. I want to see action done against the BPD. They messed with the wrong people when they did what they did. I hope BPD enjoyed it, because I will enjoy the consequences they will face. So pretty much I am saying that the BPD, the whole town, and everyone that preys off of us college students but then relies on us to keep your little town afloat to go to hell.
you were serving up beer while wearin a thong.
you were trolling fem minors looking fer thrills,
your friends were pot smoking and stuffing down pills.
next time you party have a little more smarts,
bring a few pigs and invite some more tarts.
invite a few cubans and a couple more nuts,
you'll have a grand party and grope better butts.
if you invite the right people you won't have to pout,
you'll get a cheesburger and quickly bailed out.
it ain't the minors that caused you the grief,
it's cause you ain't got no goods on the chief.
Not once did i threaten you!
All I said was what was needed to be said! And that is that!
Enough is Enough!
The law enforcement took care of it. End of story!!!
I lost my nephew over in Iraq, and no he was not "dragged off the street". He was a college grad, and left behind two lovely boys and a heartbroken wife.
Sheila, I am not sure which direction this particular rant is going at this moment, because I am sure it will be something else in a couple minutes, but that was a pretty disrespectful statement directed towards the military.
go to pasttime and gossip - hypocrites!!
My name is Samantha Studdard.
I just wanted to let everyone know, before I get accused of being a whiny baby, I was not at the party. When a lot of my friends told me about Davids party of course I was a little apprehensive and my better judgement got the best of me. I did not go. A lot of my friends got locked up and I was really worried when I got a text in the morning saying that my bestfriend was in trouble. She only had half a beer and still got thrown on the ground and had a gun shoved in her face.
Everyone of yall Bum-shit Barneville hicks are ignorrant if you actually think the cops did something good for the community. Just to let you know the kids are still partying and having a good time. Maybe you are stupid to think that everyone magically only drinks when they turn 21.
Some of these people are the most intelligent, gentle, and loving people you will ever meet. I am happy I can call them my friends. Just because young adults drink doesnt mean that they are a threat to society. And that is not what my friends are. They are also not stupid, they were just looking for a good time.
Maybe if Barnesville actually had something for these kids to do maybe this wouldnt happen. But Barnesville is a shit-hole. And most of the kids that go there have no other choice.
So please stop spreading rumors about my friends...yall have no damn clue about what happened. All you know is a half ass story.
*Not to mention Ive had run-ins with the cops before and they really arent there when people get robbed or people having meth labs in there kitchens. There more worried about taking advantage of kids (not reading them there rights) and "raiding" parties. What kind of shit is that anyways.
(Oh and good point Lively boys)
No new candidate for the IDA. You're wrong. You have no idea. Not law enforcement, not FD members, not military and not EMS members.
Let them serve their time and learn from their mistakes. If you don't they will be a thorn in your side.
I think you are just absolutely too smart to hang around these Southern Baptist biased hypocrites. You should take your significant life to a big important city. Why do you students assume that going to college makes you superior to anyone? It doesn't. Don't assume that you will be paying Social Security for anyone. Don't get too comfortable thinking that you will be locked into a mortgage either. That certainly remains to be seen. You kids can get as cocky and brave as you like, but you need to think long and hard before you write sentences like the last one in your numbered 4 section in your blog. Real long and real hard.
The fact of the matter is that there was indeed drinking. But even so, i know David as a responsible individual who is going back to further his education; and he cares about all his friends as if they were related to him. David is NOT the kind of person to allow others to be wreckless or irresponsible with alcohol or other (pot was stated to have been there).
Since i've known David, he's been somewhat of a mentor to me. He has helped me with my school work, and if he couldn't help me, he would point me in the right direction. He is also a very good friend of mine; someone who is with you through thick and thin, willing to help you out in any way possible.
The police stated that David had certain narcotics and that he planned on "slipping" them into drinks so that he could drug people. I have to say that is utterly outstanding and the farthest thing from the truth. There were no such substances at the party, and i know that David is definitely not the person to partake in such activities.
Anywho, just because David was charged with the crimes, does NOT make him guilty of them. It means that is what the police THINK he did. Which is VERY misconstrued. The police dept. is attempting to make as much money possible because all of their "dating from August 2008 through February 2, 2009 have to be dismissed".
The article at this link: http://www.barnesville.com/archives/230-Paid-a-speeding-fine-lately-You-may-get-your-money-back..html
That article states that all of the tickets from between the months of August 2008 and February 2009 have to be refunded. So the police dept is loosing thousands of dollars, which they have to gain back.
I am NOT disrespecting the police department or any of the law enforcement officials involved, but i am saying that their intentions are very trifling.
I hope the best for everyone that was involved in the recent events, and hope that everyone is alright now.
I know i'm keeping David and his family in my thoughts and prayers, i hope the rest of you will do the same.
-B.
Sorry that law enforcement was doing their job the night you wanted to break the law. I’m sure they are giving as much attention to your robbery as they were your little party. It is probably more difficult to catch 3 people at an unannounced robbery than it is to catch a group at an announced get together. It was also probably some of your friends that put the finger on the little party and announced underage drinking, wild sex, and drugs. Of course you might not be aware, but if drugs are even suspected, guns will also be expected. When the law comes in to a situation that they possibly could have encountered at your little party, it is imperative that they grab and completely control the situation immediately. It is usually the little old innocent, quite, law abiding type that will shoot you first. Be happy everyone cooperated and no one was shot. You can rest assured that any improper actions by law enforcement will be investigated and dealt with.
Barnesville is proud of Gordon. And we do appreciate everything the students provide. However, we are not going to let the students or any Barnesville residents break the law and do as they please. As for #4, the BPD is concerned about any crimes, and your little threat will only add to the irresponsibility you all have already displayed.
As for #6 let me assure you of one thing. You will not continue to do as you please if it involves breaking the law. Your freedoms do not include anarchy. If you want to break the law and do as you please, you might meet Bubba in the Big House some day. And, it will be a true statement that you won’t be earning 20K year.
As for #8, I guess you don’t understand that your lack of respect will gain you nothing. And with that type of respect, once again, you won’t have to worry about earning 20K a year because an employer won’t hire you.
Out of everything said, Samantha Studdard was correct in saying Barnesville has nothing for the student to do. It’s ashamed though that her use of words interfered with her message. Many of us who live in Barnesville have voiced concerns about that for a long time. I hope that the party will shed some light on that point and wake up some people here. It would appear to me that a town with a college full of students with nothing to do, some entrepreneur would make investments into things that would cater too many of the student’s interest. Perhaps it would better serve a purpose to offer some suggestions for off campus student activities than to complain about history. The timing might be perfect to nail down future student attractions.
I guess you are upset b/c Dave got more attention then your little robbery. Sounds like to me they might have done it b/c they don't like your smart a@@!!
Drinking too young, Partying too loud.
All of a sudden, No-knock on the door
Hide all the pot, Lie on the floor.
Come help me Mommy, I'm going to jail
Please bring the money to pay for my bail.
I promise you next time I'll stop and think
I can still party but I'm too young to drink.
To the person that said I am crying about being robbed. I am almost certain you have never even held a gun before muchless had one pointed at you. There was a girl with us when we were robbed. I wouldn't be alive if they were to touch her. How about that? Doesn't that change it from material possessions to the robbers actually being able to rape a girl...hmm...scary when people not involved know absolutely everything.
I do not threaten. I will send a letter to the ACLU, and I'm getting many other of my colleagues to do the same. Trust me, if nothing else I want the ACLU and many other government organizations to have this on record of what happened.
By the way Sheila, you sound like a some what intelligent person besides the fact you live in Barnesville, why can't you go find something to do with your life instead of posting 87 comments on this website? Did you really make up a song too? Wow. There is life outside Barnesville. Go try it out. And yes, college does make you more intelligent than people who have not attended college. That is why it is called higher education. I bet you're black too aren't you? No racism intended, but I bet if you were there when the cops ran in screaming n*gger you'd think differently. Oh how I love the great American double standard.
I'm done posting on this site after this because I have to graduate to leave behind all these people that have made it their goal to bash college kids over a website. Put down your name next time so we'll know who you are next time we make your food, clean up after you eat, wash your dishes, ring up your groceries, and do everything else that you people deem below you. Spare me your insecurities regarding your own misconceptions and blind judgements.
To the person "Probably Wasting my time". My lack of respect? My lack of respect? Please little sheep, stay sheltered in Barnesville, some people actually have degrees to attain and businesses to run. And as a matter of fact, I think we are still drinking and partying. So uhh...come get some? I almost thought you were smart or maybe even logical until you said that any injustices by the police will be investigated. You know why they will be? Because I will contact the ACLU, not because they did something wrong. Wake up and look at what really happened. Until then, plz go farm something or do you actually have a job that requires something higher than a high school diploma? No? I figured. QQ bitches. I'm out and done with writing on this.
Sorry for all you people that can only use grammar mistakes to attack us college students. Why don't you try to use some of that intelligence you forgot you had against me? We'll see if you think you are so wise then.
All i ever imagined was having some of my closest friends over for an invitation only party. I posted an "closed event invitation" on Facebook and included everyone from fellow students to lifelong friends to Gordon Professors. Drinking was never an intention of this party. It was at least not the main focus. When it asked for the person hosting the party, I put BIG DADDY DAVE. I thought it sounded funny. My great grandfather was called "big daddy".
As i composed the event on Facebook and chose the people to invite, i was asked to describe the party. I included a funny quip about possible live sex acts AS A JOKE, referring to, as stated, Christian's roommate, who does often have sex with someone at every party. On the event invitation the possible live sex act was followed with (just give Nate some shots).
There was a place at the bottom of the invitation for anyone that was invited to make comments and a naive, stupid boy wrote that,"we should put acid in the beer." As soon as i saw this, i deleted it from the postings. He was trying in his own little way to be funny, but i did not feel it was funny at all. He did not realize what it was inferring. I do not stand for drug use in any way, shape or form, and have councelled many Gordon students that drugs will steal your entire life away from you. They will cause you to destroy everything in your life that means anything to you, and you will lose years from your life trying to rebuild the damage done.
Now, as for the party: in retrospect, I wish i had never planned, nor carried it out. I honestly had no idea it could, or would, turn into all of this. Maybe I should have stopped to think about it long and hard. I really wish i had. I meant no harm. My closest friends here are Gordon students, and why wouldn't they be? I go to school with them, study for exams with them, eat lunch with them, and talk to them EVERYDAY.
I am older and continuing my education, but i think it is a grand measure to rebuild the mistakes and missed opportunities of the past. My mother just graduated with her Masters Degree at the age of 55 and is a great role model to me, and i praise her for having that courage. I am currently a Pre-law student and would hate to have my track thwarted by this mistake. I go from here to Ga State, then to Emory Law School. I currently have all A's and B's.
I understand and apologize to this city and county for the party. I did it and i will pay my fine, but don't call for the executioner just yet. The pot was not mine and i intend to go get a blood work up done at the hospital tomorrow. I do not do drugs of any kind. Someone threw a half of a marijuana cigarette in my bathroom floor during the "raid", and it was charged to me. THATS IT!
I did not, at any time, supply alcohol to anyone at the party, nor did i recognise anyone underage drinking. I just wasnt looking out for it. I should have. I wish i had. I really just wandered around and let eveyone tell me happpy birthday and talked to people.
There will never be another party I host in this town. I just want to continue to work towards my degree and move on towards Law School. I really meant no offense to anyone. The only other party that has ever been at that same house was hosted by my roomate, not me. 2 parties, thats it, and there will be no more.
Just give me chance to move on in my life. I cannot believe some of the things i have read on here. Its college students and beer. Not cocaine, not crystal meth; BEER. I sould have noticed and im sorry i didnt. I didnt realise the importance, nor recognise my responsibility to control every person in my house. I definately do now.
One further issue, however: At the time of the "raid", my back window in my house was broken out. I dont know who did it. I have heard differing stories. All I do know for certain is that the police were aware it was broken and did nothing to secure my property. I was taken to jail and the police said it was not their responsibility to secure the broken out window. As a result, my entire house was robbed by the time i was released from jail and all of the contents stolen. Laptops, x-box 360, video cameras, digital cameras, $1000 cash for rent, Tiffany's diamond ring my roomate was going to give his girlfriend when they got back, etc.. Don't you feel the Police Department has some negligence liablities to me? The window was the point of entry in the robbety, as the investigating officers stated to me. Why did they feel they could just leave my house completely open to the elements like that? That is truly negligence.
I did have a party, but I did nothing to deserve for my house to have been left wide open to robbers by our Barnesville Police Department. We should all expect more than that of them, whether accuesed of a crime or not. We are still citizens and deserve to be protected, all of us.

Yes, we had made the mistake of drinking and then getting caught.
No, we did NOT deserve to get slammed into walls, snake pins, floors, other people, and have guns forced into us, what if one of those guns had went off?
As I'm reading through these "blogs" not one person that was arrested like myself has made a "Crybaby" remark about having some stupid ticket that we can pay outside of court or like christian, taken to court, we're not saying the officers should not have had their weapons drawn, all anyone of us is saying is that we should not have been treated as we were.
I personally did not like jail. The food sucked, the bed sucked, and the smell and cold air sucked. I do not intend on going back, I will probably still go to parties, I probably will not drink but I will go with my friends, and I will offer to be the DD from now on.
And I honestly dont know who is posting sh!t about getting behind a wheel of a car and drving, but your a dumb a$$ and your just proving what all these "adults" are saying about us. I personally not that it matters because I broke the law anyways I had a dd, like I always do becuase I am the dda around here.
And your comment about how the military has to "drag whatever it can off the streets" why don't you just bring your butt down to the college and say that to my face, I bet me and you could have a peaceful resolution to that problem. I'm proud to serve this country it's what I've always wanted to do, and for what its worth it sounds to me like your one of the "scum" not me.
If drinking makes us harden Criminals I think everyone has a problem then.
The last but not least, it doesnt sound like gordon is ruining your community what ever about that deer camp my friends, I mean I guess i should have just grew up here and learned people's names then I could drink underage all i wanted. after christian and his new buddies ACLU get ahold of the county, I bet it really wouldnt matter.
Why should we care about your community when you don't care what we're doing until you hear about it in the news. Can you honestly say you care about what I do, Heck me and my friend were taking care of some random dogs we found on campus before I landed my ass in the slammer, I ACTUALLY DO HELP the community, all those dogs ya'll just let lose, yeah ME AND KLC feed them and give them water, i actually work with people to get those animals homes. what does the community do for me? ABSOLUTELY nothing. NOTHING.
It was my first time ever getting in trouble with the law and trust me, I dont plan on getting caught again.
I also understand that kids like to party. Some are just smart enough not to get caught.
Now, one last thing. If someone were to plan on starting a business here in Barnesville, catering to college kids, what are some suggestions as to what you would like to do? This town is seriously lacking in things for kids of all ages to do.
What type of business would you like to see in Barnesville catering to you...and dont say bar.
This is a serious question so please reply thoughtfully.
I go to Gordon and didn't realize they offered pre law. I know they offer a criminal justice course...but anyway, you must have skipped over the chapter about underage drinking. You have a long way to go because even a 16 year old with no criminal justice courses knows that is against the law.
Dave...just letting you know, you might need to read the chapter on "your right to remain silent" because you just convicted yourself.
Facebook, or someone out there reading your invitation, is probably what drew law enforcement to your party in the first place.
And more than likely, one of your young friends or a friend of a friend, burglarized your house.
What a mess this is.
Look at what has come of this:
A bunch of arrested kids, from other towns, who are arrested, then come onto this public forum whining, threatening, swearing, and showing ignorance, making themselves, Gordon College, and their parents look bad.
Accidental blurting out of information.
A fight at the party. A bit of drugs perhaps. Underage drinking, possible underage sales of alcohol to minors which will put the local liquor stores under watchful eyes again, a roommate who has sex with someone at every party.
Unbelievable.
I'm glad you wrote that. It sounds to me like this thing has been blown way out of proportion. I don't understand what the big deal is. A party got busted. Could it have been handled more professionaly, it sounds like it. Welcome to small town police work.
I don't know if this your first experience, but you got a tough lesson in dealing with the media and their "truthful" reporting. They are going to write and report the story that draws readers. An underage party getting busted doesn't sound sexy enough. Throw in live sex acts, drugs, and a guy named Big Daddy D, and you got yourself a story. That's why they search facebook and myspace. That's why they will print rumores to be fact.
95% of the posts on here are from a handful of people who have no clue what's going on. I am glad that Gordon is growing. With all the factories shutting down, Gordon is THE economy for Barnesville. I would love to see some bars open up and give everyone somewhere to party (of age of course, or either with a good fake ID).
Your friends aren't helping you. The best thing they can do is to keep your comments to yourself. The people on here are posting bc they love to argue. The most logical and reasonable argument possible will not sway their opinion at all.
And don't bad mouth Barnesville. Cops prey on college kids in every town. They are an easy arrest and will most of the time pay the fine and move on with their lives. The larger college towns fund their annual budget with MIP's given to students.
Giving beer to a minor is illegal, but a minor offense at worst. Hell, keep it up and the editor of this paper may help you get appointed as judge in Barnesville one day. Why is this such a big deal in a town where the number one pastime is crystal meth?
In the state of Ga it is legal to find out someones criminal history...did you miss that chapter too? It is only slander if the statements are false. Anything else you want to know?
Not a food joint, just refreshments like coffee, tea, cakes, popcorn, cookies maybe salads etc.
Add a few pool tables (5 to 10) in the back with some arcade games, a few TVs to watch sports or news on....
No alcohol, no smoking, just a place for the older crowd to gather to study, have some fun and relax a bit. Maybe a smoking area outside, with outside tables etc. for the smokers.
It would need to be in a location suitable for both races, and the owner would need to enforce the "no punks allowed at all" rule.
Maybe an officer or two could even volunteer time on the weekends to ensure that nothing gets out of hand and to help the owner keep hidden drinks and pot out of the place.
If not officer would volunteer; I know a few good ex military men who would be more than happy to volunteer. They are respectable members of the community already who have done a lot for the community.
It would need to stay open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, midnight the rest of the week. I bet the city council won't go for that, if not, the community could protest in a peaceful manner until they do approve something like this. Because decisions like that is a community decision, not a council decision.
The perfect location would also have adequate parking.
Of course is the community willing to get something like this done, no, the community has fought tooth and nail for decades to prevent something like this, using some of the craziest excuses as to why not without looking into why the community SHOULD.
If a place could be built with a gym for basketball, or have a back area for volley ball, THAT would be an instant success.
BUT one would need a suitable volunteer (or volunteers_ to keep the punks away so that there is no violence. An unarmed volunteer of course, regular bars call them bouncers, but for a place like this (alcohol free) it would be "security". With the proper oversight, this would work, it works in bigger cities with much higher crimes rates, it would work in Barnesville.
Take it how you want........
Very well said. People make mistakes because that is in our nature. You can and should finish up with this little episode and then put it behind you and move on. Happy Birthday, by the way.
It does appear, from what I read, that everything was a minor violation. Just a lots of feeelings and some pride damaged. You've admitted to some mistakes. If people can't accept it, you should ignore them.
The BPD will be responsible for leaving your house unsecured. All you really need to do is complete a complaint and list those items stolen. You may have to provide proof of ownership and cost of the item.
This could have all been prevented. Whenever I throw a big party I usually let the local police department in on the information. About the only thing that has ever happened is that they come by and tell us to be a little quiter but at the same time they actually watch over vehicles and property. It works both ways. Of course I'm older and have already been down the roads your friend Christian is insistant on venturing down. Let me tell him to use his right to contact the ACLU. I'm sure it will be interesting when he makes every effort to talk around the the violations committed while he put the emphasis on how his civil rights were viloated.
Anyway Christian, I am educated in higher learning and in life and I already make much more than 20K a year. That is a task that you are going to have difficulty attaining unless you change some of your prespectives on life. You may consider yourself the center of attention at a party but you can forget about being the center of attention in the real world.
To all you students - have fun and enjoy life. Enjoy your college years. Make some suggestions about what Barnesville needs and start really making a change. Get high on life instead of alcohol and drugs. I can promise you without any doubt what so ever that the latter two will take you no where.
You know a night club might be a good idea. There are many successful night clubs across America that don't serve alcohol and cater to younger people like students.
Now if you want to call someone a Disrespectful du#$ @$$ then go back to class and learn how to read RIGHT and, sit down at your computer and read all of this again! THEN maybe you might actually want to call yourself that! Truly I think your only problem is that you are mad you got caught and don't like it.
Thank you, Thank you
I never get away with anything!
And i was not at the party! Just like you! So why don't you keep your comments to yourself!
Let the student, their parents, and Law Enforcement handle this!
One day you will realize that just because you make something your business doesn't mean it is!
My friends were at that party and many got arrested and i told them they were stupid for doing what they did. But its not my place to further condemn and persecute them! Just like it is not yours!
And it doesn't matter how old you are, Ignorance is ageless, Color blind and obviously for you blissful. "If Ignorance is bliss you must be in paradise"
...
Thats what i thought. Its a college town. Williams is trying to do something with his life and go to College. He goes to class with us. And wants to live young. Im an 18 year old girl and Williams has NEVER EVER tried to "hook up" (that's what you call it right?) with me or any of my friends my age. Yes, it looks bad. But you don't know him like I do. Unless you are the Police Department I suggest you stay out of this. GOSSIP GOSSIP GOSSIP. Lamar County Residents shut the hell up. Unless this affected you stay out of it.
P.S. so you're saying that if a 21 year old would have had the same party it would have been okay?? WRONG. Its all the same honey. But heaven forbid he's "TOO OLD" for us. Why isn't the 21 year old hosting the party. Party is a party. Its the home of Gordon College.
I am on the deans list. i know how to handle college friends, parties, and grades. So dont tell us if we studied we would get out of college. I do study. I do make good grades. Dont i deserve to have a good time??
...
Thats what i thought. Its a college town. Williams is trying to do something with his life and go to College. He goes to class with us. And wants to live young. what do ya'lls kids do for fun drive all the way to griffin or thomaston?
Another very successful venture would be a nightclub that is 18+, 18 to party, 21 to drink. I know these exist in Atlanta and im not sure what is required of these places, but that is what these students really want, somewhere to dance and party with their friends. If you are old enough to drink, great, but if you are not, you can still party with the big boys, sans alcohol.
AND again I ask any one of ya'll who wants to tell me to my face that i'm a criminal, dangerous at that, standing at 5'2 130 lbs. I could have totally took that 6'7 300lb cop with no problem, yeah right, I deserved to have that gun shoved into my forehead when i had my hands up crying please don't shoot me what do you want me to do officer.
but yeah anyone thats brave enough to come on down to the school, I'll sit there and explain to you how that night went down.
if lamar county wants to bust parties they should be taught how to do it safely for everyone not just them.
If I've ever learned anything it would be that you can't argue with an idiot, much less 27 of them. You children don't want anything but attention. I guess you didn't get it growing up. We appreciate Gordon but not 27 delinquents that got caught breaking the law and can’t take responsibility for their actions. Perhaps the Dean will see fit to send all of you packing. That’s what happens at the big universities. They don’t tolerate the foolishness.
Let me say this for the record. Once it is printed in the paper it makes it everyone's business rather you want to believe it or not. I have freedom of speech as much as you do. Either you can like it or not. I don't make you read the things I write.
Maybe some of these other students need parents like yours who really give a damn what their kids are doing in life. Then this world might have a chance on day.......Maybe then we can get rid of Obama for dummy down or kids....!!
Libel is written word.
No one can do crap about either unless they can prove damages, saber rattling does no good. The exception to this might be a case where someone is wrongly accused of spreading a venereal disease or something similar. There are some cases where it is accepted that certain statements cause damages because of past cases, but they are rare.
A punch in the nose is far more effective and less costly overall.
Ramble on it is funny to watch.

If you were not there, do you know for sure what games were scheduled by the self appointed Off-Campus-Activity-Director Big Daddy D? BTW: I heard the stolen item was not actually a "roach", but in fact, was one of them big ol' brown critters later identified as one of them pesky Palmetto Bugs. You might want to check this out with the O-C-A-D Big D.
Thank you,

Christian, good luck with the ACLU, Dave, I'm sorry you got busted. I'll see ya'll in the cafe!
Ms. Tolley have a nice life, and hope you find some kinda sleeping pills that do it for you.
i'm going back home {across the street} this episode has become lame. i'll leave it to you & Sheila. yall have fun. lol
I can’t help you because I’m just another average citizen trying to survive in a mixed up world. However, I will offer some advice and you can take it for what it’s worth and it might not be worth much, but it’s all I have to give.
I don’t know what you have been charged with except for the information provided in the media. I’m only as informed as the average person. On the other hand, you do know, and you also know what is true and what isn’t.
Accept your responsibility as an adult for what you know is true and deny accepting those which are not true. Then move on.
• My opinion based only on the information I have is this.
o As for the charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor: You were the host of the party and therefore should have known your guest. As the host you assume the ultimate responsibility of preventing underage people from consuming alcohol or breaking any other law that is within your power to prevent.
As of the time I write this there are 282 comments, many from rude students and others from rude residents, which I may even qualify as. All of this was unnecessary and only serves to add to an already existing mess. People of Barnesville do appreciate having Gordon College here and they do appreciate the students and everything they do. They actually pay law enforcement to protect Barnesville and Lamar County and they are proud of that too. They didn’t deserve some of the comments they received from angry students just as some of the students didn’t deserve the comments they got back. Have your student followers tone it down and I’m almost confident that most of the locals will do likewise. I don’t think there was a single felony involved here, was there? So take responsibility for accurate charges and move on.
There were accusations made against law enforcement. They had the right to engage an unknown with weapons drawn. They did not have rights to use some of the language that they are accused of using. That requires an investigation and those that heard it must file a complaint. Those complaints will be given the same attention that complaints against you or others get.
Is there a way in which i could contact you? You seem to be a knowledgeable person and i would like to be able to talk to you.
*Oh and before any of you barnesvillians say, I dont drink. Im not backing anyone up. I just think yall have no right to be talking...Im sure yall have been in your share of trouble.*
Really?
Work up a business plan for such a place. Research buildings for rent and their cost. Be sure to include utilities, insurance, and labor.
Start up equipment and products must be considered also.
Now, tell us how much money the average student has to spend each week on such entertainment, and how many students could be expected to come to the business weekly.
Don't expect any help from local government, it's not their place to provide a place like this. It is strictly a for profit private business.
When you're done with your business model, come to a Chamber of Commerce meeting and make a pitch to the proper people. If there's money to be made, it has a chance to fly.
Get to work.
I am very sure that you would not attend no such party with kid games. Come on and get real.....I have a sister that goes there and I know everything that is going on......So, don't think I don't know the things that happen. Kids talk and when they do the rumors run from one building to the other.
Oh and to my last sentence I wrote........It is something called sarcasm......Something you must not know to much about......I guess you voted for Obama as well?? Next you will be saying but mama I didn't inhale.....ha!!
Oh and I am not Sheila.....Although I like the things she has to say......I wish I did know her. She sounds very smart!!
You kids through meds around like it's candy on here.......Hope you didn't put no pills or drugs in those eggs you was filling for all the little boys and girls.
reguardless facts are facts.
Underage drinking involved.
Police raided house.
charges are brought against person who resides there.
Its very simple and i cant imagine anyone that would argue this.
When i was in highschool the law enforcement would get tipped off as to where the big parties were and they would set up down the street or flat out raid the party because of underage drinking. yea it sucked at the time but the LE officers were doing their job. If they get tipped off about underage drinking and they choose to turn their heads about it then later that night someone gets killed in an automobile wreck that had been drinking at this party then that is something they have to live with the rest of their life knowing that they possibly could have prevented it from happeneing.
1: He's a future petifile
2: He's secretly working for the police and this was one way to generate money for the city.
3: Just dont know barnesville too well. Sounds like some ppl on here know him and is posting as anonymous and telling his dark secrets about X and some other things. He may have sold ecstacy before and these ppl know it. I find it hard to believe that they would hit the nail on the head about one or 2 things but be way off target on another thing. Id say hes done it. But that isnt the case here.
Who in their right mind would be doing business with this dude, unless it is a drug transaction??
I bet these pictures was taken without the permission of the other party. Sounds like a Girls gone wild vidoe...I guess now the guy is going to say " I did not have interpersonal relations with the girls ". ha!!
Bit please you annoy the helllll out of me
Parties get busted, that is a fact. However it is the responsibility of Sheriff Waller and the Chief to insure that they're officers uphold professional standards.
I would like to know if the Gordon Police Department was involved. If not I think it would be useful next time to have a Gordon police officer present, not to take part in the raid but to observe and be there for the students (or another outside observer). It is never bad to have an objective person there to have full transparencie. Since Gordon is a small community in and of itself, some of the students might have felt better seeing a familiar face among the authorities.
As for the guns to the head, I just think that is over the top. Having been in combat situations I know the stress of have any weapon pointed at you can cause. I hope that the weapons where put away after the house was secured.
As for the Officers taunting those who were arrested. I myself have witnessed this in town on many occasions. Normally after an officer has arrested a student, some feel (not all) that they have a right to ridicule or taunt them. This is unprofessional behavior and should be reprimanded.
As for the self righteous on this page, remember we have all made mistakes. It also seems that there is always an "Us vs. Them" when it comes to the locals and the students. We have got to do better. Just as this paper reported on the impact that Gordon has to Barnesville and Lamar County, we have a responsibility to the students who come here and spend their money or as some of you pointed out "their parents money". That does not mean that we need to let our community standards down, but we do have a responsibility to use appropriate mean to enforce that standard, and not overreact. Tickets should have been issued, and some people should have gone to jail if they where to drunk for their own safety or the others around them. That is where discretion comes in to play.
Speaking of discretion, I would like to ask the Officers who participated in this raid to true fully ask themselves if they would have acted they same way if they were raiding a party on Thomaston Street during Buggy Days and if they would have carted off the offenders in the same manor (because we know underage drinking happens during that weekend). Would they have given warnings and citations and let it go at that. Of course only the law enforcement officers know the true answer to that. If they can truly say they would have conducted themselves in the same manner then good for them. If they can't, I hope they can learn for this and become better.
Better grow up before hitting the real world..
Lots of ppl were locked up for underage drinking plenty of times. I guess depending on who your parents are got you off on a warning or got your parents called. Buggys days. Everyone i have known that got caught for underage drinking got locked up during buggydays.
As for houses on thomaston st. most all of them are grown ppl that are having parties. I can only recall one big party that was on thomaston st during my day and we all stayed put at the house it was held at.
As for the gun issue. If they had guns stuck to the side of the ppls head then yes that is too far but to raid a house with guns drawn. That is fully acceptable. They have no idea what all is in that house with a bunch of college kids partying. I can tell you for one that anywhere i go, (other than a courthouse) i carry my firearm with me. You cant tell if i have it or not. Its concealed and its my right to excercise the 2nd ammendment. Who knows who is carrying in that house. If i were there i would have had mine and you can bet on that. Like i said as far as guns being put to someones head or temple, yes that is a little beyond acceptable. Did they do that? Who knows. There is 2 sides to every story.
"i love your post ..it is so funny to me and the way u word it is amazing .....to funny ....
hope to find more post from you it made me smile."
Call N. Alcars asks:
Are you directing your complimentary statement toward A-apostrophe-shirley (A'shirley) or to me?
I will assume your statement was for my reading pleasure. My satirical writing skills were honed over a ghastly long period working side by side with Al Gore while he was inventing the Internet. Now that was a task!
Mr. Global Warming is a crack-up! So funny!
He is such a crafty speaker and writer, it was impossible for some of that talent not to rub off on me, Call N. Alcars. yes suh!
My five years spent at Berkeley in the early 1970's sure made Ol' Al receptive to my ideas on the birth of the World Wide Web. However, since my cigars produced more smoke than a coal burning steam engine and I drove a huge gas guzzler desperately needing a tune up, I somehow could not convince Al to bring me on board to help spread his global warming misinformation to the world. The main stream media and "stoodents" effectively propagate his words and have cast me aside to retire and live out my sunset years in Buggy Town. Que lastima!

I have never claimed to be grown!
People grow everyday!
You never stop growing because there is always more to learn!
These college students know less then you because you have been growing longer!
How can you judge them! You were once in their shoes! maybe you didnt get into trouble like this. but i'm sure you made mistakes too!
They know they messed up! now let them learn and grow from it! instead of condemning them!
EXACTLY!
Worry about your own family before judging and treating others like sh
Don't worry we will take good care of you....
I see no evil, I hear no evil, I speak no evil.
When it is made public it is my business as well as anyone else.
Oh, and don't worry. I do worry about my family!!
Doesn't sound like you are living life in to much peace.......
Ma'am you dont understand!
I'm Taking up for the college students because they are young and have room to grow!
You've stopped attacking Big Daddy D but why?
These students have made mistakes and youre not even giving them a chance to improve!
I am very peaceful because i have realized that in life you cant worry about the past! what happened in the past happened and you can worry all you want about it. But you're going to miss out on the now and future.
Let it go. Give them a chance to make a change and be better.
You'd want your sister to have the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure the DUI's have a story behind them. Having those DUI's dont make your sister a bad person. Or worthy of being treated badly for it
obviously you didnt know what to say so you just threw some b.s down.
I admit at this point in my life i am not ready to fully take care of my self. My parents take care of my finances and on some weekends they provide me a place to live.
But otherwise i take care of myself.I have to make sure i make it to class and do my work. I have to clean my room and do my own laundry. It may not seem like alot to you. But right now my job is school! My focus is getting an education!
You may think its ok to treat these students like this but its not. Give them a chance to grow and become something. They are not stupid. Some of them are smarter then alot of people i know that have gone to other schools.
And dont bother picking on me for relying on my parents because i'm proud to say my parents help me out! Without them i wouldnt be able to go to school. Not because i couldnt handle the classes but because my priorities would me mixed up! At this point all i have to worry about it passing and doing well! I'm a Mama's girl! And loving it while i can because soon, i will be off on my own and because of the help they have given me i will be successful
I did go to College, Gordon for that matter, but I learned this in high school. If you are tired of this, hit the big red "X".
hi, A'shirley. I snuck back across the street.
Why don't you tough it up and take your punishment?? You want to be an adult so bad, take the punishment like an adult. I can't wait till you are out in the "adult" world & you see how hard is it for a parent to have a kid like you. Just remember everything you do come back 10 times folds. I hope you remember this when your kid becomes a teen....
I love it that I am getting under your skin...... : ^ ))
What you do as a young adult stays with you!! She will need to get a job one day just like the rest of these college students. Don't you know that jobs applied for does background checks and it does hurt you in getting somewhere in life? Do you want these kids to stay unemployed for the rest of their lives bc of these "stupid" mistakes??? I will be damn if I am going to support them!! Do you work and throw your money to them?? If you work and they go on welfare then you are part of the problem........
SPEAK UP AMERICA!!
I have begin to adore you. Why don't you cross the other side of the street and come play hide and seek with me? ha!!
You go to class, do homework, do laundry, keep your room clean, get drunk, and go to jail.......All the while your parents are paying for all this.
No wonder why kids will not grow up to be responsible adults.
Makes a MOMMY proud!!
You really need to get your morals in place buddy or your kids will turn out like you!!
Don't worry about me and God.....We are tight!!
Please tell me more about L.T......He is sounding more and more interesting to me.....HA!!
Oh and thanks, hun.....( if it is ok for me to call you hun ).
And no I dont mind if you call me "hun" that's fine with me.
So there you go looking stupid again!
youre an ignorant woman.
Oh and please tell me about yourself while you are at it.......mmmmmmmm....
I'm not Friends with "Big Daddy D" I wasnt at that party because i didnt feel comfortable
I'm sticking up for the other students you keep bashing
So once again just shut up you dont know what youre talking about and you just sound stupid
Obviously you have dealt with issues similar to this. So why not give advice and constructive Criticism instead of being an assshole about it.
Sounds like you are looking for some attention or to find someone to like you..........
You have one thing and combined with two things will give you the real thing......ha!!
I have no problem making friends and people liking me
I was invited to the party, alot of my friends went, i could have easily gone.
But i didnt. i did what alot of my friends didnt and thats think about the situation.
And although i think what they did may have not been the smartest i will stick up for them because everyone i talked to is sorry. Everyone i talked to just wants to Take care of this and do the right thing!
People like you who, at this point, arent even making sense anymore really need to back off and worry about more important things.
Like maybe the drug dealers and druggies at the gas stations. Because i assure you, they are not Gordon students.
He was always a pleasant person but i did not feel comfortable around him
Hence me not going to a party at his house.
So Please ma'am before you speak have the facts
I'm defending my friends not dave
GOD DOES WORK LATE NIGHTS........
So don't give me that B.S
"God Works Late Nights" and talking about me waking up!
I've been saying since day one i wasnt friends with him!
But you ma'am are too ignorant and hateful to have realized it!
I really hope one day you will your eyes and realize that there is more to life then judging others!
We all must meet our maker one day and he alone will judge us. People here on earth are not able to judge because we all have flaws.
So i wish you luck ma'am and i hope you will come to your senses.
You just made yourself out to be the dumbest sounding person in Barnesville, and that is a humungous task.
You deserve the “Brain Gone Bye Bye” award for your recent posts, you have truly earned it.
And about me, oh I dont even know where to begin. Lets just say if I was arrested you and Shelia would say DAYYYUUUMMM they finally got a pretty one. No I am kidding but serioulsy... what do you want to know about me.. actually me and L.T work together, he makes me laugh all the time, he is an idiot. And yes we might get on here and post just for the fun of it, but we are at work doing it! Anything else you want to know just ask me...
Don't be taking candy from my S.G though.
" I wish he would, I wish he would"!!!!!!!!!!
I bet your swing got a kink in it!!!!!!!
Hey i got an idea, " Why dont the 3 of us Play
TOGETHER."!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO
Now I want to know when both of you can come out and play.........HA!!
DON'T THINK SO........TRY AGAIN, HUN!!
Do you play hide and go seek? ha!
That is if you dare......ha!
I hope you get one of those jobs you are putting in for!! It's a hard time to be finding jobs around here. I wish you the best of luck and I will be praying that someone with these initials gets a job!! :-))
AMEN!!!!!!!!
Where did all my play mates run off to?
lol!!
I am ready to play............
If you are smart like I believe you are. You will be able to figure that out.
Not stepping out on L.T. I have not heard from L.T. today. Have you? I want my L.T. to come out and play with C.P. and I.............
We are going to have so much fun playing hide and go seek.......HA!!
You have some big shoes to fill, but when you fill them you won't be such headline news. You also won't stay in jail long. People in high places will bail you out.
From my viewpoint a 50-something judge with a history of stalking women and beer-partying with minor children is more of a community morality and ethics problem than some 37 year old misfit having a big open beer party where college age students are invited.
If we are going to get all outraged, we should look to the leaders and officials in the public limelight that set the moral tone of what is acceptable.
David didn't do nearly what a local official has done, and he wasn't handling or influencing county money, sitting in judgment of other's, or interfacing on business and social levels with other city and county officials.
Looks like we are a little two-faced.
Just don't wait to long or I will have to take care of it myself!! ha!!
If as a community we allow officials to bail out one person who does something much worse, why are we so intent crusifying a younger person who only had a beer party? I say give it a rest unless we are all willing to unite and draw a clear line and stick to it.
Oh do you know where your kids are right now? Maybe they are running with the same crew since you don't think these kids do no wrong!!
People wonder why our kids act like they do...Because they have funny parents in a funny stupid way!!!!!!!!!!
You must can't stand to leave the place. You still worried about what is going on in The big ole town. The citizens got rid of you b/c you like to talk to darn much and gossip. This is your way back in, uh?
I guess you are funny like that in a funny stupid way.......ha!!
I guess ppl have stopped writing on this wall. Poor us......
