The Barnesville Police Department released their weekly report this afternoon outlining arrests for April 4 - April 9. The list included the names of the 27 Gordon College students arrested Tuesday night for underage drinking at a party on Yatesville Road.

Is this the complete report for all arrests made between the 4th and 9th?

If so, gees what a way to make it look like they have been busy "serving and protecting" (dripping sarcasm inserted)!

What else did they do all week? Eat doughnuts and drink coffee?

We all know how dangerous it is to be under the age of 21 and drinking. That's one of the most hazardous things that could ever occur. That is why I commend the terror tactics and blunt mental brutality committed by the law enforcement officers. It's very upright of you to enforce the deadliest and most terrible of crimes, which is drinking alcohol if you're under 21. Looking out for dangerous sex offenders and drug traffickers needs be farther down the list indeed.

A commendable job on behalf of Lamar County and Barnesville. You guys have my most sincere respect when it comes to keeping me safe from these deadly drunk troublemakers. ;)

Why be a jerk about it....its illegal to posses alcohol under 21 and they all knew it. When you have that many kids drinking underage at one place it deserves to get busted. It has been going on multiples times and the neighsbors got tired of it. So deal with Lively.

No, this evidently is not the entire list. There are quite a few Anonymous names that are bravely writing incognito. Smart cops, indeed. They eat doughnuts and wait on the "FOOLS to gather." How many did they get for smoking cigarettes under-age? Oh well, maybe next time. Ben, no one said it was dangerous to drink under the age of 21. It is illegal. All of you should ask for a sufficient amount of money for "pain and suffering" they can toss that in with your pampers and pacifiers.

People Really should get there facts straight.Yes i realize it was illegal to drink underage but for them to bust in and throw us on the ground and arrest the under 21 people is ridiculous most cases it is usually a ticket but for me to sit in jail for 12 hours not even being booked until 9 am and be able to make no phone calls is absolutely stupid. Not to mention the fact that they were congradulating the guys for fighting. If they really wanted to do there jobs they could have broke that up. These cops should be more worried about the break in and robberies that have occurred where these underagers got tied up and pistole whipped...where were they on that one?

I am not underage. I am making car payments, paying rent, paying insurance, paying for college, helping my family make do after the death of my father and getting hellacious taxes taken out of my paycheck. The taxes I pay help go to government officials and employees such as law enforcement officers. I understand and agree it is completely illegal to consume alcohol under the age of 21 and minor in possession charges are completely legitimate as well. I just think the way this situation was handled very incorrectly. If law enforcement was concerned for the safety of ANYONE at this gathering, they would have stopped it before it started. It's not about the protection of these kids from what they say is dangerous older man. No one can deny that if safety was the issue, and they wanted no one hurt, they would have AT LEAST come in and stopped the fight, or better yet came in as the party was beginning and told everyone to leave because it was a "dangerous" situation, and also that it is completely unlawful for an underage person to drink alcohol. It was absolutely not about the well-being of "socially deviant" college students, it was about the financial gain of ticketing 27 minors for possession. This will earn Lamar County thousands of dollars, and also stimulate the idea that the community is being protected. But with all due respect ma'am, you were not there and you did not witness the things I saw. I saw acts of sexual harassment, I saw racial discrimination and off-color verbal slurs, I saw unarmed students violently thrown to the floor on top of other students. I was outside chatting with some buddies when this occurred, and being over the age of 21, I was not bothered. No injustice was done to me. I was standing back up in 30 seconds. There were only a hand few of officers who were actually civil and did their jobs the way that they were supposed to, and I am thankful they were handling the situation in a cool and calm manner. When officers treat their badge as a crown and use poor judgement, however, this is where things go wrong and things go sour. I will certainly be bringing a video camera to any other social gathering to insure if this happens again, it will actually be seen by this community that I have called my home for many many years. Ignorance is bliss at the moment to many who were not there, but if they saw this situation the way many others saw it, they would think differently.

What most people (refering to young people)dont relize is that when you drink and I'm sure some planned on getting in a vehicle later, you are risking your life and the innocent ones out there on the rd. Not only that but other side affects that could happen when drinking. I give the lamar county officers a high five to cleaning up this town. It takes good people to have to put up with the stupid ones that live here of visit. You should study on your education and goals in your life instead of drinking and trieing to fit in. Grow up before you try acting like a adult. They should of kept eveyone in that jail long maybe they would learn something from it instead of thinking this is all a joke. Lets see if its funny when you go to court for it and everytime your record is pulled. How proud do you think your parents are of you now............

#2, and #5....I understand your feelings on this subject. I was in your shoes once. I also have known alot of law enforcement officers, and I understand the deadly game they play each day. It might not seem nice, but they are trying to protect their lives as well as yours. They bust in like that to scare the hell out of everyone. It discourages anyone from reacting in a threatening manner. Also, they did not know what was going on inside. If they suspected drugs or weapons, then they behaved very appropriately. By the way, did they find any drugs? Was anyone carrying a weapon? Your wonderful friends seem eager to share info when using "anonymous." You are distraught because you and your friends are not malicious criminals. I understand your frustration, but you can't deny the facts.

ok sheila i dont know if you were there or not and jeff i DOUBT you were there. they treated a COLLEGE PARTY as a terrorist act. they came from the woods with guns drawn, tazers ready, and dogs. they RAIDED a college party from the freakin woods. and on top of that they treated us with the UTMOST disrespect while we were contained, never told ANY of us what we were being charged with which is against our rights as citizens and NEVER gave us any sort of phone call which is ALSO against our rights. 19 of us guys, along with 2 others in for other charges, were crammed into this TINY detox room where there wasnt even enough room for everyone to sit down for 13 hours. not to mention they were quite violent with some of the party attendees including females, which SHOULD be looked into. so unless you were at this "terrorist gathering," which is how it was treated. keep your unwanted opinion to yourself. 3 of my friends were robbed no more than 2 weeks ago at gunpoint, bound and 1 was gagged while they ransacked their apartment. WAY TO GO LAMAR COUNTY AND BARNESVILLE PD, you guys are REALLY on the ball arent you!!!!!

Most of the them go back home after the start of their shift and stay there for an hour or more and come back home several times during the shift and most times leave the patrol car running the whole entire time!!! Wish I had a job like that and taxpayers gas money to waste!

Let's get real .... 1st of all, if the "partygoers" weren't doing something that they shouldn't have been doing, then none of this would have happened. Let's look at this for what it's worth. A bunch of kids come down to school at Gordon, nothing to do but hang out and get in trouble. Everyone knows it's against the law to drink under the age of 21. If your caught doing, your guilty, no questions asked. When your guilty, it's not your place to say how your treated by law enforcement. Their job is to protect the community. The majority of the college kids at Gordon are nothing but trouble anyway. I say kudo's to the cops. Maybe next time around, you'll think twice about drinking under the age. If you can't handle the punishment, don't do the crime and cry about it later when mommy and daddy have to come and save your but.

There is nothing more dangerous than an eighteen year old male. Add alcohol and a few companions and the danger increases exponentially. I'm not law enforcement but if I were going into a situation where there are underage males consuming alcohol I'd take a bazooka. If you break the law expect to be treated like a criminal. Miss Manners doesn't apply here.

what i found the most humorous was about ten minutes after the raid one of the officers said hey guys what's this address? (referring to his fellow officers) when informed it was 112 he said they just dispatched a stabbing five houses down. no bull $#!+. it then took them another five minutes to decide on who would go there. i do think it was over the top if it were a party bust but the officer soon informed me they were executing a search warrant. i totally understand illegal acts were going on that night and should have been dealt with. but whoever the anonymous one is in post 5.1 give me a break. no one was causing any harm out there and there were plenty of DDs. for you to assume that everyone would get drunk and all go for joy rides is ridiculous. everyone drink before they reach the age of twenty one. there are plenty of worse crimes out there. not too long ago back in the 70s there would not have been a DUA to arrest for. i understand the issue and luckily for jeff and others it was addressed. i was just making a point to these other posters that college students drinking is not unheard of and will continue to happen. and the joke about the underage cigarette use, there were none arrested for that. this was a gordon party.

Prozzo, so let me get this right, your friend were robbed and did they not also get evicted from the apartment the following day. So what are you trying to say? Why not tell the full story instead of a short version. Seeing how they were your friends maybe you know a little about the items that were found in the apartment after the eviction. You want to act like a model citizen and talk about your rights being violated, how about all the rights of all the innocent people who get caught up in the wrong doings of others. Remember nothing good comes out of doing wrong.
So you were in the de-tox cell with 11 other folks, hmmm but yet you were in a house with over 70 other people, standing room only...okay you convinced me, your brain cells are all operating.....
Seeing how drinking under age is not a bad thing, then why are you not allowed to drink in your dorm room on campus. Surely you pay for the room so why not be able to drink in it.
Dave has been throwing parties since he moved into that house and never once cared about the other people who lived around him. I can see if this was a one time party to celebrate a birthday, but this has been going on none stop. Again violating the rights of individuals who have to work, pay bills, raise a family and yes pay taxes so that a community can have Law Enforcement to stop such behavior. It seems like Ben Lively works for a living and goes to school, I wonder if he would put up with this type of behavior where he lives?

Listen, I went to college and experienced many of my friends in this same situation and YES they did sit in jail for sometimes up to 12 hours. If you are underage and drinking then plan on paying the price for it (whatever it may be). Quit making excuses for your actions and start taking some responsibility!

Before you talk about our friends getting evicted maybe you should get your facts straight! Yes there were people evicted for stolen firearms and possession but these were not the people that we are referring to. The apartment under theirs is the one that got evicted. Our friends did nothing wrong and they found nothing in there house and unfortunatly yes they still live there!

a phone call is not a RIGHT it's a PRIVILEGE in the jail.... and with the limited officers at the jail it takes some time to book all you jokers into the system while doing the jobs that are expected in the jail. Just because they bring in a bus full of @sshats doesn't mean they drop EVERYTHING they're doing to make you feel comfortable and get you in and out fast as possible... it's JAIL.... get over and learn from it instead of B**ching over it!

This Town has always been known for the other side of the tracks, my mom told me about how before this school turned into a four year school it was a really bad place to live and not to safe, i love how there is robberies left and right and a stabbing the same night as the party and just the other night there was a shoot out between two cars driving down the rd, YES run us out, you guys lets haul ass to safety.

I too used to be one of those "party hard" college students and partied on the weekends. Being that I'm no longer a student, I can see both sides of the story. When we got busted by the cops, they took our beer and told us to keep it down. If they came back, then people got arrested. It sobered most of us up and then we went else where or when home. I also agree that law enforcement should be putting their focus towards other things such as getting some of the drug activity cleaned up around the area and violence off the streets. If this partying was a every weekend thing, than yeah, I agree break it up and if they have to go back, then people get arrested.

For those that don't agree with me, then so be it. I am pursing law enforcement and one day will be an officer in the area. If this situation comes across my plate and I'm sure it will, I will treat it just as I was treated in college...I will treat them (college students) like adults and with respect.

LCSO and BPD were just doing their job. They cant be everywhere at once. Ben...your an idiot, you started off sounding good, but you showed your IQ when you, a person of legal age, and I say that because any responsible adult would not have been at a party with underage drinkers. If you are so concerned about how the teeny boppers were treated, you should have made an effort to put a stop to this. Make sure you bring your camera to the next underage party...maybe you can document that last minutes before a teen has a loss of life in an automobile accident. I'm sure the parents would love to see it..

In ref to 20.1 it's not the cops job to babysit. I am beginning to suspect that ol Sheila is a troll maybe even sent by some cops to take peoples minds off the fact that the cops did a bad job.

She tries so hard to get people to focus on the wrongs the students did, yet so defensive about the wrongs the cops did.....makes one go hmmmm.

i really think that what the Lamar County police did is wrong there are better ways of handling these types of situations. I think it is so stupid to raid a party of COLLEGE students with guns and tazors... i mean atleast they r in some respects bettering there self and might i remind you if it wasnt for those college students at Gordon, Barnesville would be a dead town. If you guys actually want to better a place take all of these drug dealers and all of the teens in barnesville who do not in anyway shape or form want to better themselves. I mean heck improve they Highschool yall have and get a life because i can almost bet that every person who has commented for this raid might be for it now but i bet when they were in college (if they went) or at a party drinking if this had of happened to them they would be just as against it as anyone else. By putting these teens in jail and making them pay a fine you have in no way shap or form helped your town be a better place...except for the money that was brought in by there fines. i just think this whole situation is very stupid!

Well, back in my day when i was partying it up in bville, we took it out to the middle of nowhere where we didn't bother anyone. Of course i was a local, not just a gc student, but still. plus, we never really got bothered by police, as long as we weren't being stupid, and when they did happen to come across us, they usually just told us to move on. But it does sound like the officers went above and beyond what was neccessary. However as long as noone was actually hurt, maybe the partiers will try to be more considerate of neighbors and more conscious of their surroundings. it sounds like noone at that party was really that young, so they just need to be more respectful of others, it's not really that hard to have a good time and not bother other people.

i work at the college and i see sudents come in high and drunk every night of the week. they need a wake up call and i'm glad that some of them got one i hope they have been wakend up to the real life and what stuff like that says about them and that its not right. they did the parting and had there good time and now they have to pay the price for that good time.
