How many Baby Boomers across the country remember where they were 50 years ago?

In 1963 a very unique place from our teenage years was born out of a tragic event. A car accident on Highway 341 South took the lives of several teenagers and seriously injured several others in the winter of 1962. This deeply affected Buck and Eloise Dorsey.

That was my sister in the hwy 341 wreck.

But the most important thing is; Buck was one on Barnesville's Greatest Citizens and he will never be forgotten. I just wish all AMERICANS could take lessons from him it would be a better place to live.

The evenings spent at the Rec were the highlight of my week during the latter 60's and early 70's. Buck and Eloise genuinely cared about the young people who came through those doors. This is a wonderful article. Thanks!

I enjoyed the Rec in the early 70's. The bands and dancing every weekend were the highlight of the week. It would be wonderful if another place like it was available to the kids today instead of them having to hang out unchaperoned in grocery store parking lots, parties in private homes or in the woods. Pool tables, music and getting together with friends is just as popular today and needed!

Great story about two great people. They gave their time, their talent and their treasure to the kids of this community. May we all think about what we can do to give back as they gave!

Pearl Jam also re-released this song in 2003 on the album "Lost Dog's", and in 2004 on the album "REARVIEWMIRROR"
