As expected, Morehouse College police chief Vernon Worthy entered not guilty pleas on serious charges arising from a hunting confrontation in Lamar superior court this morning. His case was placed on the trial calendar.
Vernon Worthy

what the hell? "i'm going to kill you" basically was said and it's thrown out.... hope he gets the max
WHY did the LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT REFUSE to PRESS CHARGES???
Maybe they need to Re-define the term "Law Enforcement' here.
If they are not "enforcing" the law, maybe "they" should Resign.
You can't pick and choose here. Or can you?
What does the term "Protect and Serve" mean to
Local Law Enforcement.
Maybe the sherriff could write an essay on how justice is
prescribed equally across the socio-economic spectrum in B/LC.
Is Justice Really Color BLIND in Lamar County?
This man should do some serious time. But the big wigs behind the scene say it is not prudent and will be socially detrimental for this to happen. We shall see....We shall see....
Keep this one on the radar people.
If the tables were turned,
you would be hearing "Civil Rights" comments all over this board.
That was the financial fall of O.J.
This may also fit the bill of "Hate Crime".
I implore you to check into it, Mr. Rooks!
Check into it!!!
Maybe they could march in the streets of Barnesville,
getting their faces on CNN, holding signs and such.
Protesting such things as illegal drugs, fatherless families,
crack babies, crack houses, hate crimes, busting slack, etc.
Mr. Rooks could be the poster child,
Riding in a limo, be the hero of the day.
Mr. Worthy could be the villan in the parade, chained and shackled, poked & prodded with sticks on his way to the jailhouse.
Do you have any answers?
Come on , spill the beans.
That'll learn him!
Too funny!!!
ROFL
hooked on phonics worked for me... lol w t f?
If the tables were turned like said above the town would be on pins and needles and the S.O. would be on standby.
Enlighten us!
sound real bad so they can put a nother black man in prision
Is there a doubt in your mind that he is telling the truth? Why would you think that?
One Color!
to satisfy your curiosity, i heard that law enforcement didn’t file any charges because they didn’t witness the episode and that it had something else to do with being on private property. i heard that the only charges that could be made had to come from the victim, who was nate. nobody said anyone was lying and no accusation was made to that. don’t give the court reason to throw it out before any of the arguments are heard. and don't downplay law enforcement because they didn't do what you think they should have done. get the facts first! now, are those the facts? i don’t know because it’s only what I heard and it differs from other comments. you can only call it hearsay.
The guy made a mistake. Have you never made a mistake in your life time?
The kid just got mad and wanted to get back at the man for making him cry and S**t his pants.
Sure I would have gotten mad, but If it happend to me I would have forgave him and went on my way.
Sure, I’ve made mistakes in my lifetime and it seems like every one of them had some type of repercussions. That’s what causes people to learn from them.
So, I on the other hand would have pressed criminal charges and perhaps sued him for emotional stress caused by the ordeal.
Truly,
A Lesson Learned and Likely to be Unrepeated Afterward
Borrowing a phrase from Cuba, “Show me the money!”
I mean, what is Worthys story on this? How does he say it happened? Just curious.
DNR Keith Page testified that Rooks was laying on the ground. I doubt Nathaniel staged all this up. You see what im getting at. There is too much stuff against Worthy.
Why should they just chalk it up at a lesson learned. What did worthy learn from it? He was involved in a crime. He is a criminal now.(once convicted) There are consequences for false imprisonment and pointing a gun at another individual.
I cant figure out why he didnt want nathaniel to have a cell phone. I can see rolling away from the gun but cell phone.. WHY?
Why was worthy only carrying a pistol? Does he hunt with a pistol. What is a .44 or .50cal or what?
Who ever declined to press charges originally should be reprimanded unless Nathaniel didnt want to press charges then. That should be a whole other court case as to why they werent doing their job. I guarantee that if i pull a pistol on someone in Ingles parking lot i will get arrested no matter if the person wanted to press charges or not. Its just the law.
If he had entered a guilty plead, he would have lost his P.O.S.T. Certification and in turn would have lost his job because of he is charge with a felony.
I would place bets that he will still lose his P.O.S.T. Certification as he will be found guilty.
Of course, I have been wrong before so, this is offered as only a personal opinion.
2. He was trespassing with a firearm on his side. Again, he may have thought he was on the right property, however, the law does not forgive stupid.
3. If you are going to hunt on someone else’s property, make sure you ARE on the right property. The law does not forgive stupid.
4. Hunters don't typically shoot at other people. We take hunter safety and know gun safety. You don't have to pull your gun on another hunter. Especially when you are on the wrong property, because the law does not forgive stupid.
5. Worthy pointed his gun at Rooks while he (Worthy) was trespassing on someone else’s property. He forced Rooks onto the ground holding him against his will (false imprisonment) all while on the wrong property. The law does not forgive stupid.
6. You are all now trying to make this into a race issue. The facts are what they are. Whether Worthy is black or white, whether Rooks is black or white, DOES NOT MATTER!!!! Worthy broke the law. Worthy has a file with Atlanta Police Department where he was accused MULTIPLE times of police brutality and unnecessary force. It is his record. He lied about it during his first court appearance. Why isn’t he charged with perjury as well? This SHOULD NOT be a black/white issue. I thought the people in this town were better than this. Nathaniel would give the shirt off his back for ANY of you. That is the way he is. Nathaniel deserves for this trial to be FAIR, no matter what the outcome. Drop this racial crap now before it gets out of hand. Let it be a FAIR trial.
