Lost what? lol. Its a 15 or so mph zone. Its hard to lose anything going that slow. We need names. Im gonna guess a female over the age of 50. LMK (let me know)
First noticed on Monday morning??? I saw it on Sunday morning about 9:30 on my way to McDonald's. Is this an indication of how much attention local law enforcement really pays? My money is also on a senior citizen in a land yacht. I'm sorry folks, I don't mean to step on any toes but there comes a point when certain people simply do not have any business drivng anymore. We all know someone who really shouldn't be driving but we don't do anything about it because we don't want to be saddled with the burden of being their chauffer. You know when they will be taken off the road? When they kill themselves or someone else because they got confused or didn't see the other car. PLEASE if you have a family member who is in this condition, do the right thing. A little inconvienance and indignity is a lot easier to swallow than attending the funeral of your loved one.
the driver was from out of town and he was following another vehicle.the vehicle in front swerved and he hit the island.the driver thought he was in a lane but found out differently.
See, that's what people get for assuming too much. To blame something on a set class of people (seniors or whatever) is pathetic.
Those who assumed it was a senior should lose their license, because they are ignorant and have not a lick of common sense! They have no business being behind a wheel either.
Andy you are sure quick to jump on the two law enforcement officers on duty. When was the last time you stayed up past 1:00 in the morning and saw what your two law officials have to deal with. How about over 100 cars coming through town on their way to the huddle house. Then dealing with the fights at the huddle house, flash foods and so forth. If you noticed the flower bed ran over in the morning why did you not help and let someone know. I feel Barnesville Law enforcement does an outstanding job considering what they have to work with. As far as stepping on toes maybe you should be careful before you step on your own...
Why accuse senior citizens, you will be one in a few years, whatcha gonna say then?
I dont know who did it, I hope someone will on up to it. However it is not a crisis, unless you make it one.
I am the wrecker driver that worked the wreck and I worked the wreck about 2am sunday morning. BPD did work the wreck. read comment #4 and you will see what happened.
breaking news...you got to be kidding me. What are the parameters for breaking news? Someome ran over my mail box, knocked down my fence, and killed the cat. Should I subit my story..Fell safe at the end of your driveway. Come on....get a grip.
OK Im dieing to know what happened this morning with the guy that was tied up in his own home and his truck taken at gun point. Heard some of it on the scanner as I was getting ready for work. It happened on Shadow Moore Dr., I think. Scoop, get the details.
Having been in public safety for many years I know full well how busy it can be. I also know how else the time can be spent. As for 'helping out and letting someone know' when you see this kind of damage in the center of town you presume that the proper authorities already know. I will apologize to the BPD for the comment since they were aware of it. I based my comment on the statement made in the original article which stated the it was first noticed on Monday morning. As for stepping on my own toes that's the reason I don't dance. I can't stay off of them either.
I hope that by the time I reach that age either I or my family will have the sense and decency to keep me off the road if I prove my self a danger. And for the record I'm not blaming a certain class of people. I have seen for myself an alarming number of senior citizens whose skills behind the wheel of a car are downright scary. I get behind one of two people on Burnette Road regularly who drive 15 mph in the center of the road and slam on brakes whenever they meet another car. I was also present at Crossroads convience store when a little old lady rammed the ice machine, backed up into the fuel pump, and then jumped the curb near the sign which by the way was no where near either driveway. My own grandfather (God rest his soul) drove like a mainiac before my parents finally took his vehicles away. I have nothing against senoirs. Look at it this way, if a 30 year old person drove the same way and was drinking you wouldn't hesitate to pull his license. Why then should an elderly person who has no more control than a drunk be allowed to drive? I don't want my children or anyone else's killed by someone who shouldn't be behind the wheel regardless of age.
Dig them up and run to Home depot or Lowes and plant some more. You people in Barnesville would comment over a glass of milk spilled in Pastime."who was it?" "why were they drinking milk?" "I cant believe they spilled it?"

Car plunged into vegetation. One crepe myrtle airlifted to emory. Fireman no injuries reported due to vehicle accident with tree but leaves knocked off and swept up to keep from stopping up drainage which might cause 1 inch flood. Fireman rescued one caterpiller that was in presence of accident. It was just shaken up from ordeal no injuries to it. Caterpiller was transported to Spalding regional where it was kept overnight for observation. We observed it transform into Butterfly and it flew away. Fireman gave hugs and said we did good job.
Sad thing about it is the teenagers do not have to be drunk when they are driving recklace. They are to busy, anwering the phone, texting someone, putting on make-up, looking at theirselves in the mirror or just plain can't drive. They will give a liscense to anyone in the U.S. now a days weather you can drive or not. So, it is not all the seniors. I see grown adults riding brakes going down the road!!
I saw it on Sunday and thought the same thing. I wouldn't have thought a car hit it. Someone made a comment that those who noticed it on Sunday should have contacted law inforcement then but when have you ever seen a fallen tree and thought "I should call the cops". That's going overboard.
