Two people were seriously injured and a third shaken up after yet another high-impact collision at the ever-dangerous intersection of highways 341 and 18 in Barnesville Thursday.
The most seriously injured victim in the 2:15 p.m. crash was lifeflighted with what appeared to be head injuries after being extricated from the Ford Ranger pickup in which he was a passenger.
A seriously injured victim of Thursday's crash is prepared for medical evacuation.

Drive safe ppl
I have noticed in my years of driving is that if the light stays green for a shorter time the drivers will have to get used to slowing down. In the morning when I come south on 341 over the railroad bridge, I am amazed that I still have a green light when I get to the intersection. I feel sorry for the cars waiting in the east and west bound lanes.
Going through a red light is never acceptable. Maybe some drivers need to read the rules of the road as a refresher.
We also need better training so new drivers know the rules. I think a lot of people don't actually know the rules about who has to yield and who has the right of way.
I'll be making a right on a green light and some idiot coming the other way will turn left and almost run right into me! Or they roll through a red light in front of people with the green to make a right on red without stopping.
When I first got a license it was easy to get a ticket for starting into an intersection on yellow or rolling a stop sign or rolling right on red. Not any more.
It isn't the intersection. It's the dumb drivers.
This accident is just more proof that drivers need to learn the "Rules of Driving" and FOLLOW them. Period
If the police, who are necessary to ensure people comply with laws, spent some time enforcing traffic laws many problems would go away. Not only would the problems lessen, the county or city would recoup the expense with increased traffic fine revenue. An example is to look at the deputies Waller keeps on the Interstate. They pay for themselves plus make a profit.
As for training, driving a vehicle is just like carrying a lethal weapon. We spend a great deal of money trying to work around uneducated drivers that we turn loose with lethal weapons then we would ever spend by tightening skill tests or enforcing laws.
Somehow, probably from "too much government" Rush brainwashing, we decided to stop enforcing laws and collecting fines...even when those fines more than pay for the enforcement of laws. We wind up with people breaking laws just because they can.
RADAR laws are one example. Georgia calls it a "speed trap" if you can't see the cop for 500 feet, and the ticket won't stick. That's bull crap. If you are speeding and get caught, you deserve a ticket. What if we enforced drug laws that way? If you can't see the cop for 500 feet, getting busted for selling crack is tossed out because it is a crack trap.
What ever happened to safety checks for unsafe vehicles? That's another problem.
We have worked to do everything we can do, from eliminating driver's education to slacking off on tests and enforcement, in the name of less government. All this has done is cost us more in the long run. Penny wise, pound foolish.
We will spend $3 million improving the intersection because we won't make $3000 profit by writing tickets to idiots, just so the idiots can cause a problem elsewhere.
The Darwinian method takes too long to filter out the bad drivers with unsafe habits or vehicles.
I do think that they need backdrops behind the traffic signals so they are more visible though. I have thought that every since they installed them. They simply are not noticable enough if you are not used to that intersection.
Can we please lay the blame for the problems of this intersection where they belong,,,on the drivers that use the road. I go through this intersection daily and have observed a few issues that may help resolve this problem
1. JUST BECAUSE THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN, YOU STILL NEED TO LOOK BOTH WAYS.
I understand that we all have busy lives, can you please take a couple of seconds to look, and see if something is coming. If the person behind you blows his/her horn, SO WHAT, LET THEM BLOW
2. WHEN TURNING ONTO ROSE AVE. FROM SOUTHBOUND 341, IF SOME ONE IS IN THE NORTHBOUND TURNING LANE ONTO HWY 18, YOU CAN NOT CLEARLY SEE ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
If you hvae to wait to turn, then wait. DO NOT TURN BLINDLY, HOPING THAT THE NORTHBOUND LANES ARE CLEAR. As I said before If the person behind you blows his/her horn, SO WHAT, LET THEM BLOW
3. PLEASE, PUT DOWN YOUR CELL PHONES, YOUR CHEESEBURGERS, YOUR MAKE UP, STOP PLAYING WITH YOUR RADIO, LEAVE YOUR CD's ALONE.
When you are going through this intersection, have all your attention focused on the task at hand.
If you do all these things, you may still be involved in an accident here, after all, everyone is not as smart as you are.
Thank you.
We are becoming more impatient as a society. Your power blink? by god it better not happen again, power go out? It better be turned back on within 10 minutes. Guy in front of you only driving the speed limit? Pass him.
Pesky red light slowing you down? ha-ha yea right!
This problem has nothing to do with government or law, we are just in a hurry, and no one else matters.
I've never seen so many stupid drivers as around here... It's almost as stupid as a few weeks ago I almost got sideswiped from a truck swirving into my lane on 19/41 in milner because some stupid person in a dark colored ford ranger was going northbound in the southbound lane!!!!!
c'mon people drive safe!
It used to be considered so hard that that you had to, "watch out for the other guy".
Those who cannot drive properly should not be driving!!!
I have been thru that intersection thousands of times without ever having a close call!
I know the intersection is a problem; therefore I must take more care!
