Local restaurants and food service providers - including caterers and school cafeterias - are inspected at random each year by the Lamar County Health Department. Based on hundreds of requirements for storing and preparing food items as well as keeping equipment and food contact surfaces clean, each food service provider can receive a score of up to 100. Restaurants who receive a score of 79 or below are notified of the issues that need correction and re-inspected within 8 to 10 days.
