The Lamar County Trojans called for a Red Out and broke out throwback red jerseys with black numerals outlined in white but yellow was the color of the night Friday at Trojan Field as LC dropped to 1-2 under a virtual avalanche of penalty flags as they fell to Mary Persons 20-7.
These were not bad calls by the officials; LC earned them all legitimately.
It appeared the pressure got to the Trojans. LC lost last year due to a controversy over lightning but, this year, LC, though out-athleted on the lines of scrimmage and well short of MP depth-wise, shot themselves in the foot in what was, otherwise, a competitive game.

Trojan tight end Pippin Davis (11) celebrates his first quarter touchdown vs. MP which put Lamar up 7-0. LC never sniffed the endzone again as they succumbed to a plethora of penalties. (Photo: Walter Geiger)

Screaming? We have some really good players on this team. Several of them played in the dome last year. How many games did they lose last year? We have some really good players on that team...

Ruined my week - I'm so depressed I may have to stay home from work next week.
