Locals who want to tour 11 historic homes with the Georgia Trust Expedition: Buggy Through Barnesville on Saturday, June 11 may register online or the morning of the event for $25. The ticket will not include lunch or the closing reception which Trust members and guests will buy for $50-60.
The event is expected to bring 175-350 guests to town, most who are interested in the community’s historic resources.

Mayor pro tem Anne Claxton and her husband Bill restored the shingle style house at 537 Thomaston Street by doing most of the work themselves. She personally stripped and refinished all the woodwork and trim inside the house. The windows and doors were numbered with a brass peg but the number 13 was intentionally skipped. All hardware is original and the pattern is ‘Queen Ann’. The Claxtons are only the third family to live in the house built in 1896. The Claxtons have restored three houses and multiple commercial buildings in Barnesville.
