In light of recent issues with the animal control center more and more lost and found dogs are being reported to local news agencies. In order to serve our community we are listing those strays in an effort to reunite them with their owners or find them a new home.

If I may just mention this- I really wish anyone who adopts a pet would consider spaying or neutering that pet. The cost is minimal, it's healthier for the pet and perhaps this will, in time, make a thread like this one unnecessary.
And I don't know about you, but if I never see a cat in heat again, that will make me very happy. NOT a pretty picture.

I think that the whole community/county needs to recieve something in the mail such as a flyer stating that once they notice that their dog is missing to contact the newspaper or to view barnesville.com . I think this is a most effective way to get dogs back to their owners instead of going through the pound. However, keeping a collar and tag on the dog is the most effective way this should be the alternative to that. The owner said that she would have never thought to check on here. This shouldnt be the case. Here and the local vet office should be the first two places to check.
Thank you Andrew for helping me out on this. My wife, and myself, already became attached to the dog somewhat just in the short 23hrs we had her. Im glad that the owner got the dog back though. Ive been in the same situation a few times where my dog would jump a 6ft privacy fence and wonder the neighborhood. Luckily i have some great neighbors and they would look after her and call me. A pet containment system is the best investment I've made this far. Best 180 dollars i could have spent. I have wayyyy more than that tied up im my two dogs so this keeps them in my yard along with the fence now. Petsafe model RF-275 is the way to go for anyone who wants to look into a containment system. This is for stubborn dogs such as Pitbulls, rotts, german shepards, etc. The model RF-250 is for smaller dogs.
